It was a strenuous week for this little lady. We vigorously arranged her new home/dorm for the next 9 months last Sat, grabbed some food and she was off to her first rush meeting! She has been going from sun up to sun down. Themed outfits, make up, meetings, interviews. My little introvert must be exhausted. In the end she fell in love with Kappa Kappa Gamma and they loved her. When I asked her why she was excited about this group of young women, she said “because they are down to earth and really really funny”. She will now follow in the footsteps of Kate Spade (who designed their house), to Jenna Bush and many other notable women. Success starts the moment you decide to take a risk and make yourself uncomfortable. Off to a good start.

To the girls that didn’t get chosen, my heart aches for you….sisterhood happens in many ways outside of sorority houses. I hope they find a sense of belonging in another impactful way.

Without pain, there is no joy. She was ready to go and not look back. Confident, capable and excited. Even though she showed me that she’s going to be ok, I am not…at least in this moment. It’s the difficult parts of our journey that lead to the most growth. I feel the shift and new perspective coming, even after a few days. I just can’t believe this day has come and gone. Such a blessing to have a daughter like her and looking forward to the time where the void of her absence is filled with the joy and admiration of watching her go out into the world and make her own way. ❤️

That was a doozy! We lost two trees in the Finesse parking lot but no vehicles were damaged and our power stayed on! To those without power and with damage from this storm, I hope you have a quick recovery and are back to normal soon. This summer has been wild!

Aloha from Maui! It’s been a whirlwind of craziness this year with my oldest graduating from high school, an unexpected appendectomy (get your colonoscopies kids….everything is good and I am blessed!), and jet setting to Turks and Caicos (I got my first passport stamp ever). This week, I am at a conference with my boo in beautiful Maui. All this R and R has been a good reset and I feel so good! Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and doing something that they love with those that they love. ❤️ Mahalo

Perfectionism , it’s praised among many but why do we have the tendency to strive for nearly impossible perfect results? What causes this ? For Kristi it was always a desire to be seen and to feel good enough to feel “worthy”. Love and attention was “earned” and not something that was given freely. Unlearning this is one of the hardest lessons in life. Your intrinsic value is not measured by your performance, you are worthy just because you woke up today. You are not here to perform for anyone but to experience life’s beauty by just “being”. “I am” … it’s the shortest sentence but its meaning is incredibly valuable. “I am” is a declaration, meaning “ I exist” and that is Enough.

Today felt like Christmas. I could hardly sleep last night and still jumped out of bed this morning! I had my friend and the most talented make up artist glam my face . Next level talent and he let me contribute to the process. I felt so beautiful. From there I was in front of the camera with Chantel for an amazing project called . This could not have come at a more pivotal time for me and I am excited to be one of 30 women over 30 to share a little about my life journey. This is Chantel’s “Baby” and I am honored to be part of something that empowers women. Stay tuned…more to come.

This week I spent two days doing extensive training with some of the leading experts on injection of neurotoxins and hyaluronic acid fillers. It took me a few days to write this post because I needed to process .

1) First and foremost, I am blessed to be part of an elite group of medical providers who have helped pave the way for safe, artful injections. This sub-specialty of medicine (yes it is a sub-specialty now) has evolved for the better since I picked up my first syringe of Botox in 2007. There are standards of care, many many fda studies and better ways to identify, manage and treat complications.
2) Allergan went over and above by bringing in 3 trainers with over 80 years of combined experience in aesthetics. They spent a day speaking from first hand experience and demonstrated beautiful injection technique. Day 2 Allergan brought in a cadaver lab in the back of a semi trailer….WHAT????
3) I must take a moment to thank these wonderful people who donated their bodies to scientific research which humbled me greatly. During my training as a PA, I had a semester of anatomy with cadaver dissection. It was long and tedious but I felt privileged then and even more so now. I found myself wondering…who was this person? What did they do for work? Did they have children? What was their personality like? Six years ago, my mother made the same sacrifice and donated her body after she passed away. She was a nurse for 40 years and said “it’s just my body, I don’t need it…my soul will be in Heaven”.
4) Trainings always remind me how much I love learning. The scientific database that I have developed over the years is still there and all the knowledge comes flooding back. I feel rejuvenated and love being amongst like minded people who are passionate about aesthetics.
5) Lastly, aging is different for everyone but it does not discriminate. We go through “accelerated periods of aging” such as menopause and andropause, during times of stress such as cancer or other illness. We have more tools to slow the process…diet, lifestyle, stress management, supplements and hormone replacement. Injectors have now evolved into transitional life coaches.

Lip lines are so bothersome to my patients. Straw use and smoking contribute. Also, declining estrogen and diminishing facial fat are factors. Sometimes, patients follow the rules and they still show up. This patient trusted the process. We did a series of 4 treatments with filler. Final result to come. She preferred to start conservatively and saw improvement with each treatment. She also had deep acne scarring which made her texture more irregular. I placed filler in her chin and marionettes with a cannula, used a soft filler to give the lips structure and hydration, supported her lip corners and spent time working on her vertical lip lines and supporting the collagen defects left behind by acne. Her youthful appearance matches her zest and vitality for life. ❤️
