THE STORY:
My sister Kristen Francis and I have a conversation one day about how we want to get our hair done but quickly realize there’s no hair salon near us that cater to our hair type. Yes, there are places in Salt Lake, but that trip alone from where we live is 2hrs total there and back. If you’ve ever gotten your hair braided in the style of feed-in box braids that we like to get, that easily can be 4hrs+ on just the hair alone and so already we’ve racked up 6hrs of doing our hair and probably paying $200 plus dollars (not including gas)….. yes, “no thank you” is right!!

Sooooo.. what do we do? We open a home salon where we can do hair for individuals who have hair like us♥️🥰

I’ve teamed up with a sweet friend of mine from
Africa, Ivory Coast specifically, who is so amazing at what she does. I’m so grateful I’ll have the opportunity to work with her and learn more from her! Her name is José Tokou! Then there will be my sister Kristen and I 😁👍🏽♥️🤝🏽 we are stoked!!

✨BOOKING INFO✨
We’ll be opening up shop this Saturday, October 7, 2023 where we’ll be braiding hair and also selling the hair oil you’ve been seeing me talk about too! We’re taking bookings now and will only be doing hair once a week on Saturdays from 10am-4pm! If you have any questions message me!!

Hey hey! My name is Shayna Anderson! I am the founder of Brown Skin Curls and I live in Orem, Utah!

After we had moved from Texas, my sister (Kristen Francis pictured below) and I were talking one day about getting our hair done and realized, there are not really any places where women (and and probably men) with our hair type could get our hair done. It makes perfect sense because the demographic is Utah has primarily been caucasian, but as time goes on, we are seeing more and more diversity in this beautiful state, especially in its student towns!

We wanted to create Provo and Orem Braids to let women who can retaliate to us and the hair struggles, that there is a place for you to go near you! No more, going out of state to get your hair done, or taking hour long drives to only spend 3+ more hours doing your hair. Save your time and come book with us!

The services we offer are simple, but as business grows and customers flow, we will be adding more services!!
