Mixing coffee on the go. How many times will I do this before I fail?
Over here hooked on ROYO Bread Co. breads. Does anybody else cook & eat & think constantly?
I know it’s really easy, and I’m guilty that myself… To judge another Interpreter based on their decision-making in regard to ethical dilemmas. One thing that I hope shifts over the rest of my career is that we ask other Interpreter’s questions instead of judging what we saw or what they might have said about a situation.
I wonder if we lean into coming from a curious perspective and start asking questions would cause us to better understand why Interpreter’s do what they do without assuming that they made a bad decision or that you know what’s best.
Especially in regards to students, I think it’s really important to mentor them through ethical sticky points with compassion and foremost, listening. It’s so hard to know what to do in the moment when you’re facilitating language, managing the environment, all of intrapersonal + interpersonal things happening along with paralinguistic demands. Then, add on something that requires an appropriate ethical response. 🫠😅
We can learn so much from each other by asking questions instead of telling somebody what they should or shouldn’t do (coming at them from a judgmental tone or perspective).
I hope my students always feel like they can come to me when they go through something they’re unsure about, and that they can expect grace, compassion, gratitude, understanding, and support no matter what their decision might have been.
At the end of the day, we will all end up retiring, and I hope the generations to come are able to absorb all of the knowledge and skills that we’ve developed over our career to support the needs of our communities moving forward. ✨🤍
How do you feel about hearing people posting music they’re interpreting?
I would love to see your opinions, thoughts, and comments. 😌✨
It’s been a while since I’ve done a pole and I’ve had this come up frequently. I started working a while ago for a company that does not allow simultaneous communication. I’ve actually found a lot of benefits of it. For example, I’ll answer and tell the Deaf person that I need to communicate and ask some questions to the person calling in and then I will introduce myself. Once that’s over, I will then introduce myself in American Sign Language after telling the hearing person that I’m going to introduce myself to them (same approach both ways). I’ve actually found a lot of benefits, one being that I’m not jumbling words or missing information.
Predominantly when we use sign language and English at the same-time American Sign Language is what suffers. For that reason, I’m curious what you think about using simultaneous communication. Are there times when you prefer it times when you don’t, do you not care, do you think it’s oppressive not sum-com? Let me know. ✨🙏

Do you care if people use sim-com?

Coloring has been a meditative practice for me over the last year. It has been one of the hardest years of my life, and given me so much peace. After countless hours of drawing, I decided to try to make books. After a lot of failures, I found what I love to do most with my coloring. I purchase notebooks, journals, sketchbook and cut out my drawings and coloring to paste them on pages within the book and then also handwrite quotes that mean a lot to me and I hope will mean something to you.
I’ve decided to start selling them but I don’t want your money. It’s my hope that people will be willing to purchase these and pick a (Deaf) organization to send the money to. The funds should be sent to me, I will mail the book, then I will send the money to the Deaf organization and provide a receipt if preferred.
All of these are unique. There are no duplicate drawings, images, or books.
Below you will find the list of books available right now with the prices. Once they have been purchased, I will change the green checkmark to a red X. The red X means that it has been sold.
These take an insane amount of time to make so I don’t know how often I will be able to post new ones that are available, but I’m a coloring addict so it shouldn’t take me too long if I’m being honest.
To buy these you do need to message me on Instagram. I have a lot of social media accounts and Instagram is the one that I use the most unless I know you personally then feel free to shoot me a text message. (Digs, I’m talking about you.)
Thank you so much for helping me get back to the community I love so deeply.

From 81 down to people in their 20s (not pictured😜). We all did a CrossFit workout for Coach Kannon together. I freaking love this crew. No matter how long I’m gone or doing my own thing at Vasa, when I drop-in, I feel at home.
