I asked if it was ok to hug her and that exchange was amazing to feel her body relax with the synchronized breath. 💐💯 Simply amazing that we get to share moments like this with clients. This was my first time meeting her and that made it even more special to share this exchange. This is what’s at stake. As massage therapists, we are nurturers. Our work is human work. Emotional work. Energy work. Spa culture forces therapists to move like machines. No time to process. No time to reset. No time to even gather yourself after a heavy session before the next client walks in. Flip the room. Smile. “Welcome in.” Repeat. And what about the client? If a client just had a vulnerable emotional moment during their session, they now have 5 minutes to pull themselves together because the next client is already outside waiting? That’s not wellness.
