Rose gold with a blended root? That’s how you can have fun vivid hair with a little less maintenance than a traditional vivid allows.

Typically what makes a vivid color high maintenance is that it’s always a double process. You have to lighten the hair first then tone like a blonde and then apply the vivid color and sometimes a top gloss to ensure shine and longevity. And yes, they still fade faster than traditional colors because direct dyes sit on top of the hair. They need professional shampoo & conditioners(from a salon or directly from the brand, Sally’s & Tjmaxx doesn’t count!), cool water, uv protection, heat protection, and if you have hard water you can put a shower filter on this list too. So yeah, high maintenance. What else makes them high maintenance is if the color is touching your scalp! This means a harsh grow out in about 4-6 weeks and you’ll have to have a double process again even with just a touch up.

Although the at home care is still necessary, what makes this color and similar colors to this one a little less maintenance is the fact her roots are blended into her pink color, so her stylist was able to grab her a similar color of color depositing hair mask so that when her color fades she can use the mask at home to refresh the pink with no harsh grow out lines because her root will still be there and blended! This will save her a ton of time and money between touch ups because she can now get it touched up when she feels like it’s grown out too much for her liking!

This is the best way to tip toe into vivids if it’s something you’ve been wanting to try!

Bright buttery blonde with a blended root is the best way to keep your hair looking super bright but your maintenance low. This client also had some buildup on her ends making her blonde look dull and dark (which is super common during the summer!) so Ryann did a wet balayage to her ends to remove unwanted tones and build up while keeping her hair in tact. This helped create an even canvas to tone on and create this gorgeous blonde!
