Today I had an extension correction client who had to cut her own hair just to remove a previous install.

That should never happen.

Let me be very clear:

Extensions should never be painful!!!
They should not cause tension, scalp trauma, excessive shedding, or require cutting your natural hair to remove them.

This is exactly why being a licensed cosmetologist matters.

Hair services — especially extensions — require formal education in:
• Scalp health
• Hair density, porosity & elasticity
• Tension distribution
• Proper method selection
• Safe installation and removal

The right extension method is not based on trends or what’s popular online. It’s chosen based on the client’s lifestyle, scalp condition, and overall hair integrity.

When someone markets services they are not qualified or licensed to perform, the damage can be severe:
🚫 Traction alopecia
🚫 Breakage and thinning
🚫 Chemical or tension-related scalp damage
🚫 Years of regrowth and repair

And if you cannot competently execute a service, you should not be charging for it. Experience should be gained through education and proper training — not at the expense of a client’s hair health.

Integrity matters. Licensure matters. Education matters.

Our clients deserve safety, ethics, and professionalism every time they sit in our chair. 🤍✨

The extensions were installed incorrectly, causing too much tension on the scalp.

The fourth photo reflects my corrective work after properly assessing her scalp health, hair integrity, density, and lifestyle to choose an appropriate method and install it safely.
