The secret to long-lasting chrome nails isn’t the chrome.

It’s the foundation underneath it.

As a nail technician since 1986, I’ve spent decades testing products, techniques, and application methods to create beautiful nails that actually last. One of my favorite chrome tips is applying Velvet Matte Top Coat over the chrome before sealing everything with a High Shine Top Coat.

This simple step has helped me achieve chrome wear with minimal peeling and maximum shine for years.

I share tips like this every day because I believe great nails start with a great foundation.

Years ago, I learned a vertical rainbow ombré technique that quickly became one of my most requested nail designs.

Instead of blending multiple colors on one nail, each nail becomes part of the rainbow, creating a seamless color transition across the entire hand. 🌈

I can’t even tell you how many times I recreated this look over the years. Guests absolutely loved it, and honestly, so did I.

To finish the design, I topped everything with a beautiful glazed chrome effect and crystal accents, giving the nails a magical sparkle that shimmered like the brightest stars. ✨💎

Looking back through old photos reminds me that great nail designs never go out of style. After 40 years behind the nail table, it’s still fun to revisit some of the sets that brought so much joy to the people who wore them.

Throwing it back to the summer of 2019 when rainbow nails were huge, chrome isolation was everywhere, and long pointy stilettos were always my first choice.

I’ve always loved creating designer nail sets that I would wear myself. When a guest sat down in my chair and said, “Do whatever you want,” my imagination immediately went to work.

Barbie was one of those special guests. She was always willing to trust the process, embrace the creativity, and say yes to whatever colorful idea I had in mind. Those are the moments that make this industry so much fun.

Looking at these nails today, I still love every detail—the vibrant rainbow colors, the gold chrome isolation, the sharp stiletto shape, and the freedom to create something completely unique.
