Here’s why shaving and dermaplaning are not the same:

❌ TI**LE RAZORS:
• Serrated blades that just shave the hair.
•They again are serrated and cause micro tears in the skin (think apricot scrub). These little tears are huge breeding grounds for bacteria!!
• People also tend to use the same blade more than one time. This is incredibly unsanitary!! No wonder it is causing you acne.
• When you use these, it’s common to do it dry, (I personally am very against dry dermaplaning too) which poses risk for it to get caught and nick the skin (think shaving your legs dry...

• these are SURGICAL blades which are incredibly sharp!!
(Why you should not do it yourself)
• They are single use blades designed for dermaplaning!!
Each one is in a sterile pouch and is instructed to be disposed in a sharps container
• Due to the blade being straight (not serrated) it poses far less risk to nicking the skin, and if it does, it is a clean cut and will heal incredibly quickly compared to a serrated cut.
• Typically done with oil, which causes far less irradiated skin
• Doesn’t cause those micro tears for bacteria to harbor in!!
