The very first wedding I ever worked as a makeup artist was my sister’s in 2021— and it will forever hold such a special place in my heart.

Leaving my bridal party today feeling so very grateful. 💫

I think a lot of people assume that as a makeup artist, I just come in, do the makeup, and leave—but it’s so much more than that.

Most of the time, I’m in touch with a bride for almost a year before the big day. I get to be a small part of the planning process, because makeup is such a huge part of that morning—especially when there’s a big bridal party involved.

One of my favorite parts (aside from a happy bridal party) is the trial. It’s often just the bride and I, and not only do I get to know her skin (esthetician things 😉), but I get to know *her*. I hear the couple’s story, what she’s most excited for, and even what she’s nervous about. If it’s makeup-related, I get to reassure her that I’ve got tips and tricks for all of it. Sometimes I even get a sneak peek of the dress… like, hello?! That’s so special!

I get to pamper her doing my favorite thing in the world, during one of the most exciting (and let’s be real—stressful 😆) times of her life.

On the wedding day itself, makeup can take up to seven hours with a larger party—but that’s not a complaint, not from me. I get to spend that time hearing how everyone met, vibing with the getting-ready playlist, laughing over stories, and yes—sometimes even tearing up right along with them. (Thank goodness for waterproof mascara 😉)

Every wedding reminds me of the beauty of girlhood and community—how important it is to love your people and make these beautiful memories together. I see sisters hugging through tears, best friends dancing in matching PJs with half-done makeup and mimosas in hand, moms getting emotional, and the inevitable bridal party bestie that keeping everyone laughing. 😆

It’s all so special, and I’m forever grateful to be part of it in even in the smallest way— especially at the very end when I look around and see all those glowing, confident faces.

I get so many sweet thank-you messages from brides after their big day or honeymoon, and those mean the world to me. But this post is *my* thank-you— to all of you. Thank you for choosing Kalee Kosmetics and letting me be part of your journey. It’s truly an honor to have you in mine. 💫🤍✨
