Current III: The Cumberland River | Breath 🌊
The Cumberland is quieter than the other rivers.
And maybe that’s exactly what breath is, too.
Not an answer.
Not an escape.
Just a small, steady way back into ourselves.
Sometimes the exhale doesn’t come when the hard thing ends.
Sometimes it comes later, when the body finally realizes it is safe enough to let go.
This is the third current in The Confluence of Four Rivers.
Emotion. Movement. Breath.
One current remains.
Not every season of movement begins with a destination.
Sometimes we move because something inside us finally knows:
I cannot stay where I was.
We walk.
We drive.
We pack the boxes.
We make the appointment.
We take the job.
We keep putting one foot in front of the other.
And somewhere in all that motion, what felt impossible to understand begins to loosen.
The Tennessee reminds me that a river can be redirected, altered and interrupted...
and still keep moving.
Maybe healing isn't always about knowing where we're going.
Sometimes it's simply allowing ourselves to move.

There are seasons when your body asks for something different.
More rest.
More nourishment.
More softness.
Less pushing through.
🌙 The Hormone Harmony Evening brings care to you, in your own home.
For three hours, you don’t have to drive anywhere, prepare anything, host anyone or take care of everyone else.
Your evening may include restorative bodywork designed around what your body needs, elements of my Hormone Harmony Ritual, quiet space to settle your nervous system, and the simple luxury of being cared for without having to perform for it.
Because sometimes self-care isn’t squeezing one more appointment into an already-full day.
Sometimes it’s letting care come to you.

What if once a month, you didn’t have to go anywhere?
No rushing out the door.
No driving home afterward.
No need to make the house perfect.
The Monthly Home Ritual brings restorative care to you, in the place where you already live your life.
Each visit is thoughtfully shaped around what you need that month, drawing from massage therapy, craniosacral work, aromatherapy, women’s wellness, guided rest, and other restorative practices.
Some months may call for deeper therapeutic work.
Others may simply ask for warmth, quiet, and somewhere to soften.
You don’t have to prepare your home for me.
You don’t have to host me.
Just make a little room for yourself.

In 1921, Appalachian Trail founder Benton MacKaye wrote an article in response to the pressures of industrialization, economic insecurity, and increasingly crowded cities. His answer wasn't to wait for those problems to disappear, but to imagine the Appalachian Mountains as a place where people could step away from the pressures of life and return with a new perspective.
In his proposal for the Appalachian Trail, he wrote, “Life for two weeks on the mountain top would show up many things about life during the other fifty weeks down below.”
105 years later, the world looks very different, but MacKaye’s question about how we spend our time still resonates. What might we see differently if we stepped away from the pressures of everyday life, even for a little while?
Explore A.T. history by reading “An Appalachian Trail: A Project in Regional Planning,” which established MacKaye's vision and ultimately led to the creation and stewardship of a place where people still find peace, community, and perspective today. ➡️ https://appalachiantrail.org/our-work/an-appalachian-trail-a-project-in-regional-planning/
