☀️Summer is in full swing!☀️
My book is filling up fast for the summer and I have several dates I will be out of the salon over the next month and a half. If you are wanting in with me this summer at any point it would be a good idea to shoot me a message and get on my book, so that you are guaranteed to have your good summer hair! 👋 You’re friendly neighborhood hairdresser here with a little tidbit for today!
We’ve been having this conversation a lot lately in the salon and with summer coming up I wanted to share the most effective way to use your ✨dry shampoo✨ and why!
🚿first of all, double wash that hair girl! If your shampoo isn’t sudsing-wash again…suds=clean. The cleaner you get your hair in the shower the longer you can go between shampoos. Get in there, scrub! Dig in with your finger tips on that scalp. Get that bad boy CLEAN! This helps the whole process!
⭐️ We’ve all been using dry shampoo as a ❌solution❌ when we should be using it as a ✨preventative✨this is the key! There’s two ways I suggest using it:
1️⃣same day as shampoo. After you shampoo, blow dry and spray in your dry shampoo immediately.
-this allows it to soak up anything as it comes in rather than it already being greasy and adding your dry shampoo on top of the oils creating a thicker, heavy, dirtier feel. This will help you go longer between shampoos from the get go.
2️⃣for my fine haired girlies-this is how I use it, because I don’t like a lot of product in my hair weighing it down. Spray it in at night before bed, massage with your fingertips and go to bed! When you wake up in the morning it will be like a brand new head of hair! Doing it this way gives the powder time to work before you start styling. It soaks up all the oils overnight and leaves you feeling fresh and clean in the morning!
✨if you’re running through your dry shampoo like crazy, this will help you not use as much as well -but something else I suggest is trying to find a puff powder dry shampoo over an aerosol one. It last longer! (and it’s better for you!)
✨Hold my hand as I say this🤝a little sweat is not a bad thing! Just bc you worked out and got sweaty does not mean your hair is dirty and needs washed. I promise. It’s not as dirty as you think. Spray you some dry shampoo in and blow dry it! You will survive this I promise, you are not gross.

💜Try these out and I promise you’ll see a difference in your hair and the way the dry shampoo works for you! Remember, shampoo companies taught us we need to wash our hair daily to make more money. Washing your hair daily dries it out and strips it of all the healthy oils it needs! In reality, we are not out hunting and gathering anymore, we’re not dirty humans I promise you your hair will be ok without washing it everyday…it’ll most likely be better!

💜 A few Violet announcements! 💜

☝🏻Don’t forget, we have I’ll be closed the week between Christmas and New Years. Starting Christmas Eve we will close until Tues Jan 6. 🍾🥂

✌🏻I am in the process of starting a new booking system that will send out appointment reminders and do a few other behind the scenes things for me. Please be patient with me…yall know I’m technologically challenged, I’m trying my best! Lol but most importantly I’m working on text reminders for you guys! 📱

And lastly, as always, THANK YOU! So very much for supporting my small business again this year. Thank you for continuing to trust me with your hair! I never take for granted how lucky I am to have grown this little business of mine and that I get to be a small part in all of your lives! My little family and I, and Megan and I are so grateful for each and every person who steps into our salon and sits in my chair! It was a big year for the Violet, and you all are the reason we are able to continue to grow! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

We are SO beyond excited to announce the big secret is that we’re moving to a bigger, better location! A small space in The Ritz Midtown is going to be Violet Underground’s new home!

It will still be the same old Violet Underground, as we want to offer you the same cozy, personal, true to Violet experience you know and love now, just with a little more room!

Dates are still up in the air as things are finalized. But we will for sure be in by June 1st. I say this to say, ‼️if you have an appointment between now and June 1st please bare with us, as we may have to rearrange our schedules in the next month to get everything squared away‼️ We will be in contact with you if your appointment needs to change. If you do not hear from us, assume your appointment will still be at the 5th St location.

We could not be anymore excited to start this next chapter. Megan and I really want to tell each and every one of you THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Every client who has walked through our doors in the last week (and always, really) has been so supportive and so genuinely excited for us. You guys have no idea what that means to us. We’ve grown so so much over the past 5 years and this is all possible bc of you guys, your support, your love, and your enthusiasm. Because you guys show up every 6 weeks and sit in our chairs and trust us with your hair, your secrets, your family, your celebrations, your sadness, and everything in between, that’s why we’ve grown and created all of our favorite place, a plant hospital that sometimes does hair, your therapy session, your hype girls, your monthly belly laugh! We are so excited to step into the next chapter with all of you by our sides! 💜
