CND Dynamic Duality Collection

At their meeting on May 14, 2024, the Putnam County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed May 15, 2024, as Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness Day.

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder affecting individuals of all races and genders, presenting significant challenges including life-threatening obesity and cognitive impairments. The syndrome necessitates constant supervision in a controlled environment and currently lacks a known cure.

Timely diagnosis is crucial as it facilitates access to treatment and support services for affected individuals and their families. Ongoing research offers promise for advancing our understanding of PWS and developing more effective treatments, aiming for an eventual cure.

Early diagnosis also allows families to access vital treatment, intervention services, and support from health professionals, advocacy organizations, and other families dealing with PWS. Advocacy organizations have designated May 15, 2024, as Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness Day to educate the public, enhance communication and education, and promote research efforts.

Let's join together to spread awareness, support ongoing research, and provide hope to those affected by PWS. 🧡
