Hello everyone!

Some of you, my loyal clients who’ve been with me over 20 years already know about this, but I wanted to share my professional opinion with those who are enticed by the idea of having their peach fuzz shaved while they also receive a facial.

As an aesthetician who’s been practicing with success since 2000, my expertise on skin suggests that it’s not a good idea to combine the two at all.

Here’s why;

A facial you receive at my table means your dead cells that have been flaking off and accumulating on top of your epidermis all have to go. That requires an efficient work of physically and chemically removing them. That is the only way you can receive your customized treatments. The skin will never receive those treatments that will stimulate/speed up your cell turnover, if a proper exfoliation isn’t done.

The sole purpose of receiving a facial is to wake up your dermis and push it to make collagen and elastin fibers (the goal of your visit).

IF you do not receive that exfoliation, your skin (true skin that is-your dermis) will continue to stay asleep and what you will receive will only be a nice feeling of effleurage, which is basically an application of the products that you can easily do at home yourself without having to see me.

IF you’d like your peach fuzz to be gone, then you go and get a good old facial wax, which will remove your facial hair from the roots, and will no doubt weaken and discourage the hair regrowth.

When shaving (which is what dermaplaning is) is combined with your facial, you are not receiving any benefits of a facial, but you’re receiving a quick healing of the shaved skin momentarily, that’s called by some, a facial. NOT😃You just cannot be shaved and treated at the same time. Either services will have to be compromised. Lol!

With all due respect to those who perform those procedures, I’m one hundred percent sure that you will NOT receive a proper facial (stimulation of your dermis) if you’re told you’re also getting a facial. That’s not what I understand (and with that I do not mean a romantic opinion, but based on solid training and experience) from a facial.

A facial, again, is about removing the dead cells effectively FIRST, AND work through your epidermis to wake up, and stimulate your dermis (that’s where everything happens) to go to work, so that you receive the positive response of healthier functioning from your dermis inside out that’ll make your home care work between your facials.

Skin is a living organ and is beat up constantly by your aging, your eating habits, stress levels, and the environmental factors such as the UVA/UVB rays, the pollutants in the air, and the heavy metal in the water. If/when you receive a professionally done facial, you’re not only fighting against all those factors and preventing fast oxidation from occurring, you are also allowing me to repair the accumulated and ongoing . My loyal clients whose faces I’ve been treating have healthier and younger looking skin today despite nearly two decades of time passed can attest to that fact.

Yes, I perform service to those who do not like their peach fuzz, but it’s a separate visit AFTER two weeks. And their skin is , stubble free, and always getting compliments.

As a professional in this field who passionately and ethically practice skincare with a proven success for over two decades, I’d recommend you to separate your facial hair removing and your into two separate visits.
