How to help people feel comfortable in photos and videos:
1) guide; “look down and then back up into a camera”. This relaxes the eyes and helps to not have the “deer in the headlights” look.
2) make sure to compliment your client! It’s so uncomfortable having pics or videos captured. When make sure to HYPE up your client!
3) start with the client looking away before you have them look directly into the camera; “look to the left..” click click click (or record)..”now slowly look towards the camera. PERFECT! Great job. Love!”
4) be kind and if the image isn’t quite capturing to your liking- don’t make negative comments. How awkward for the client.
Bonus tip: look at your pics and videos to determine if you need to adjust style or makeup!

Being staunchly anti-AI is my new thing. 🤣
✅Firstly, because I like to form my own thoughts.
I like the way I write. I like using a pen and paper.
I like looking at what I have created and feeling a sense pride; “I wrote that” or “I made that”.
✅Secondly, because trusting billionaires with my own thoughts and words, can’t end well. AI regurgitation of recycled slop is our future if people stop CREATING new ideas.
✅Thirdly, the planet is suffering. We need need water and we need to NOT increase the temperatures in communities. We need our communities to have safe water to drink.
If you’re casually using AI, ChatGPT etc. I urge you to try something else.
If we refuse to give in. We can be the resistance.

Final thoughts: these are my salon core values. I created them knowing the goals and dreams I have for myself, my salon culture and my salon team. AI could never.
I hand wrote them on a piece of paper and they’re in our break room.
Could I spend money and get them all pretty and printed out?! Sure, maybe one day. But for now, they’re proudly displayed as a reminder to my team that we have clear ideals.

1) If you’re getting married; book your hair and makeup asap. Most wedding hair and makeup artists book 12 months out.
2) If you’re a wedding guest and only need 1 or 2 services- booking a wedding team may not be the best option for you, as we’re usually booked up with wedding couples and their parties. If we’re booked up: I would recommend booking with a blowout bar.
3) Once you have your hair and makeup completed: do not steam dresses orrrrr lay by the pool (especially here, in the heat of the day).
4) Have fun.

✨Hi✨
Welcome new faves around here.
I’m Jen or Jenevieve or “hey you!”.
✨I have been a professional in the hair and makeup industry since I was around 17 (when I began beauty school!).
✨23 years. Yes, that’s the math.
✨I have 3 kiddos; 17, 19 and 20. They’re the coolest and the reason I keep going. I love them so much
✨my wife and I have been together for almost 10 years
✨we have 2 cats and 2 dogs - we JUST adopted a puppy (Billie) on March 30th!
✨my wife and I LOVEEEEEE karaoke (at our house with our setup.)
✨I love music: Billie Eilish, Dashboard Confessional, Copeland and mxpx are my faves.
✨we’re Disney pass holders- but I would never consider myself a Disney adult; as I haven’t seen like any Disney movies lol. I love Disneyland tho. The rides are fun and I love getting away from the realities of the world.
