As brown people, when we are exposed to the sun, we get discoloration/ hyperpigmentation, farmers tans, sun damage, and overall a skin complexion that may not be true to who we are. For that reason, up until now, we have been using sunscreens. We have been lead to believe that we need sunscreens to protect ourselves. These spf products protect against UVB rays which account for 5% of the sun’s total rays. UVB rays are what cause skin cancer. But us, brown people with higher melanin levels are at a much lower risk for skin cancer. 2/3 of the most common skin cancers in the US that appear in people of color, do not even occur in sun exposed regions. This means that using a sunscreen, will still not prevent you from getting these skin cancers. yet, we continue to use a product that contains harmful ingredients such as homosalate, avobenzone, and oxybenzone. Instead, we should be using a product that works to prevent UVA rays, which account for 95% of the suns rays. UVA rays are responsible for sun damage such as: premature aging, wrinkles, tanning/increased pigmentation, and discoloration. That is why we formulated a cleaner product that prevents discoloration, stops the harmful effects that come along with tanning, & provides 24 hr protection while doing so. We do not promote or support bleaching or any sort of lightening products. We simply want our consumers to be proud of the skin color they were born with.
