💔💔💔Earlier today we made an unfortunate discovery , almost all of the heaters that support our neonate tanks need to be replaced.
These units are critical for baby season.❣️ The tanks are designed with heat on the bottom and moisture on top, creating the perfect microclimate for neonate squirrels, opossums, groundhogs, chipmunks, mice (basically any baby mammal under four inches). The sliding shelves allow us to safely access, clean, and monitor the babies while keeping their temperature stable.💜
There’s no real way to predict when these heaters fail. They last anywhere from 1–4 years depending on use and many of ours have reached the end of their lifespan all at once. We opted to replace them all to avoid mid season crisis😪
With baby season right around the corner, this is not something we can delay. We went ahead and ordered replacements tonight for Friday delivery to ensure we’re ready when the first calls start coming in which could literally be any day since we ready had our first squirrel babies of the season brought to us💚
Preparations for baby season have already pushed us well over budget, and we’re now working to replenish those funds.🙏🏼

Happy 4th of July everyone! More importantly to me, happy 90th birthday to my pappy! He was so happy to get his haircut today and feel human again. Possibly the only reason you’ll catch me working on a holiday 😂

Also, I’ll be out of the shop for the week, but you can message here or call the shop to schedule. Just don’t be shocked if someone else answers the phone or you see the shop open as I have a new cohort, Drew! He has his own style, his own prices, and is doing his own thing. He’s an awesome guy so be sure to make him feel welcomed!

8 years ago today I got my name on the window. Next month it’ll be 10 years that I’ve been at this shop. Crazy how time flies!
