A reminder:

Yes, one of our youngest members here at Deo Gloria Jiu-Jitsu also happens to be Coach Kris’ granddaughter. Though she is only 3, she gets to attends our 4–6-year-old fundamentals program. She reminded me about what our kids programs are really about. Seeing her constantly learning the class routine, what is expected of her, and how to conduct herself on the mat.

She continues to improve her skills and her attitude (most of the time), while experiencing what it means to work through different challenges, both against and alongside others.

That is part of the value of our youth Jiu-Jitsu. It adds to our children’s lives. It reinforces what you parents are already teaching at home. It’s another environment where our children can practice self-control, listening, persistence, and learning to meet expectations.

Our goal is not simply to teach a list of techniques. We also want to help them become increasingly capable in how they move, how they respond to challenges, and how they conduct themselves around others. And it doesn’t hurt that we can quickly be reminded of these things with a RNC wrapped around our necks.

Belts and stripes are fantastic and important, but equally important is the development of character that happens along the way.

Let us continue moving forward and higher, one step at a time, sharpening each other.

Little update. We got the wall mats installed mats are down. Still waiting on screwing down the mats edging. Things are coming along great though. Thank you Clint, Juan, Collin, Robert and Jake for all your help. Life would’ve been so much more difficult without ya’ll.

Hello, Reno!

We’re excited to share that Deo Gloria Jiu-Jitsu Academy is joining the Reno community!

We’ll officially open our doors October 2nd, and we’re looking forward to meeting more of the families and neighbors who make this community what it is.

Deo Gloria is a family-focused Jiu-Jitsu academy serving kids, teens, and adults. Whether you’ve trained before or have never stepped on a mat, we got you.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to become part of Reno and look forward to growing here for years to come.
