Dermaplaning is officially being added to the You Glow Girl Esthetics service menu!

What is dermaplaning?

It’s a professional exfoliation treatment that uses a sterile blade to carefully remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz from the surface of the skin! Leaving it feeling smoother, looking brighter, and helping your makeup apply more evenly.

Who is it for?

It can be a great option for anyone struggling with dullness, dryness, uneven texture, or simply wanting that extra-smooth glow! It may not be suitable for everyone, especially those experiencing active or inflamed acne, but we can determine whether it’s right for your skin before your service.

What is it not?

Dermaplaning is not the same as shaving your face at home with a store-bought face razor. Those razors are mainly designed to remove facial hair, while professional dermaplaning is a controlled exfoliation treatment performed with proper technique and a sterile, professional blade.

Why shouldn’t you try to dermaplane at home?

Without the proper blade, angle, pressure, sanitation, and knowledge of the skin, it’s easy to cause irritation, tiny cuts, breakouts, or damage to your skin barrier. At-home face razors may remove peach fuzz, but they do not provide the same safe, even exfoliation as a professional dermaplaning service.

And let’s clear up another common misunderstanding: your facial hair will not grow back darker, thicker, or faster after dermaplaning! It will grow back just as it did before.

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, which can help with texture, dullness, clogged pores & leave your skin feeling smoother and brighter!

And trust me, I know how satisfying a good exfoliating scrub can be 😂 But when it comes to exfoliation, more is definitely not always better!

For most people, 1–3 times a week is plenty. How often you should exfoliate can depend on your skin type, the product you’re using & the other products in your routine.

Over-exfoliating can leave your skin irritated, dry, sensitive and can even damage your skin barrier.

We want to get rid of that dead skin buildup without stripping away the healthy barrier underneath! 🫶🏼
