Alcohol- they are not created equal when it comes to skincare!
❌Denatured or isopropyl alcohol= drying, stripping, damaging over time, can produce more sebum (which can equal breakouts) in response to dryness
Verdict: Avoid these alcohols in your skincare
✅ Cetearyl, Cetyl, Stearyl alcohols = emollient, nourishing, not drying, pretty much the exact opposite
Verdict: these are beneficial alcohols to skin, use products with them

Have you ever gotten a client gift that went directly into the goodwill pile? 🙋♀️ I see you “apres club” dad hat. Not what you were trying to do as the gift giver (& what a waste!)
These gifts are so thoughtful:
✅ non-toxic (it’s what we do)
✅ sustainable (it’s who we are)
✅ boutique brands (it’s what we love)
✅ complimentary wrapping in items they can use (🙌)
✅ your clients new favorites! (winning)
Trust me they will remember these gifts! 🤍
Bouncers at the door of Sephora & a black market for fake IDs so tweens and teens can go shopping? I’m not sure that’s the solution 🤔
What is the solution? An industry reset: no more branding barrier breaking products to teens for profits. Simple, supportive, and actually clean. That’s what they need! (Oh & a really good mineral SPF!)

That tube of topical acne gel? In addition to the active ingredient it can contain up to 90% denatured alcohol.
The “active” ingredient is what’s doing the work - tretinoin, adapalene, clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide. Everything else is the vehicle. The base. The stuff carrying the medication into your skin.
And that stuff matters more than most people think.
A few to know:
→ denatured alcohol — effective, but brutal on a teenage skin barrier.
→ polyoxyl stearate (PEG) — emulsifier can be irritating

→ propylene glycol — common solvent, alcohol based, can be irritating
→ methylparaben — preservative
→ BHA /BHT- antioxidant/preservative
→ fragrance + dyes — often found in OTC acne washes
If a treatment “should” be working and it somehow feels worse - peeling, red, breaking out in new places - the medication isn’t always the problem. Sometimes it’s everything around it.
