Before you reach for your coffee tomorrow morning, I need you to reach for water first. Here’s why I’m serious about this one. 💧
Your skin’s hydration level is actually at its lowest point first thing in the morning — it naturally builds back up later in the day. So the second you wake up, your skin is already starting from behind. What you do in those first few minutes matters.
Why hydration is a skin thing, not just a “drink more water” cliché:
💦 Your skin barrier — the outer layer that locks moisture in and keeps irritants out — needs water to function. Without it, that barrier gets weaker, and everything gets in easier (irritation, sensitivity, breakouts) while moisture gets out easier (dullness, tightness, fine lines looking deeper than they are)
💦 Well-hydrated skin cells hold their shape and plumpness. Dehydrated cells shrink a little — which is literally part of why skin looks flat and tired when you’re under-hydrated
💦 Hydration supports the delivery system — blood carries water, oxygen, and nutrients to your skin cells. Dehydrated = sluggish delivery = duller complexion
So here’s the tiny habit: water before caffeine, every morning. Not a detox, not a cleanse, not a trend. Just giving your skin what it needs before you ask it to look good for you all day. 😅
None of this is glamorous. That’s the whole point of this series — the boring stuff is the stuff that actually works.

Day 4 of my sardine fast and my skin is glowing — here’s what’s actually happening in your body:
1️⃣ Omega-3s are calming inflammation
Sardines are packed with EPA and DHA, and by day 4 those fats are working to support your skin barrier and calm inflammation from the inside out.
2️⃣ Your skin barrier is holding onto moisture better
That same omega-3 boost helps your barrier trap hydration, which is why your skin can start feeling dewier instead of tight or dry.
3️⃣ Protein is fueling repair
Sardines deliver complete protein with all 9 essential amino acids — the building blocks your skin needs for collagen and tissue repair.
4️⃣ Vitamin D is supporting cell turnover
Sardines are one of the few whole foods high in vitamin D, which helps regulate skin cell renewal — so newer, brighter skin can start showing through.
5️⃣ You may be sleeping and feeling more energized
Less processed food and sugar can mean steadier blood sugar, which often shows up as better sleep and more even energy — exactly what you’re feeling.
A quick honest note: real, lasting skin change comes from consistency over weeks and months, not just 4 days — sleep, hydration, and your skincare routine all matter just as much. This is a fun reset, not a miracle fix.

I get asked all the time — “what should I actually be doing for my skin?” So let me be real with you for a minute.
I started seeing a dermatologist when I was 13 years old. Not because I was vain — because I was struggling. Problem skin, breakouts, the whole thing that makes you not want to look in the mirror as a teenager. I know what that feels like. I lived it.
That struggle turned into my life’s passion. I didn’t get into this just to help people navigate skincare — I got into this to help people with their skin issues, just like I had. Because skincare IS confusing, and there’s so much noise, so many products, so many promises. My job is to cut through that for you.
Almost 30 years later, here’s my promise to you: I take the time to actually look at what’s in a product before I ever put my name behind it. I’m looking for ingredients that support real skin health — not just a nice smell or a pretty bottle. That’s not going to change.
3️⃣ If something doesn’t feel right on your skin, don’t just push through it. Bring it to your skincare specialist. That’s what we’re here for.
4️⃣ Whether you’re dealing with problem skin like I was at 13, or you’re at the stage now where you’re thinking more about anti-aging — there’s a path forward, and you don’t have to guess your way through it alone.
Skin health is not a one-and-done thing. It’s ongoing, it’s personal, and it deserves real attention from someone who actually knows what they’re looking at.

Have you ever felt flaky and oily at the same time? Drop a comment below and let’s talk 👇
A lot of people think they have “combination skin” when in reality… their skin is dehydrated. 👀
When your skin lacks water, it can overproduce oil while still feeling tight, flaky, dull, or rough at the same time. Your skin isn’t confused — it’s asking for hydration.
Here’s what I recommend:
✨ Drink a little more water daily
✨ Lightly exfoliate to remove buildup
✨ Use the RIGHT moisturizer morning & evening
✨ Focus on hydration, not stripping your skin
Healthy skin is all about balance, not drying everything out. 💆♀️
