Heart health is not just about avoiding a heart attack someday.
It’s about how your body is functioning NOW.
Energy.
Circulation.
Inflammation.
Stress.
Sleep.
Recovery.
Feeling calm enough to actually enjoy your life.
Your body keeps score.
Chinese Medicine has always looked at heart health as more than numbers on a lab report.
We look at the whole picture:
digestion, sleep, emotional health,
daily habits, and how hard your body is working just to keep up.
No, acupuncture does not replace your cardiologist.
Yes, it CAN be an incredible support alongside the care you’re already receiving.
Because prevention matters.
Paying attention and making meaningful micro-changes over time–adds up.
Your heart deserves support long before it starts screaming for attention.

Summer heat
Sweaty, snappy, thirsty, chafed– feeling personally victimized by summer right now?
Chinese Medicine has thoughts.
One of the easiest ways to support your body in summer is through cooling foods.
Think: watermelon, cucumber, mint, berries, coconut water, citrus, leafy greens, tofu, light soups, herbs, and actually hydrating before you become a human raisin.
Also: less alcohol, less fried food, less “I survived on iced coffee and vibes.” Or I had “margaritas for dinner”
Your body is always adapting to the season it’s in.
Chinese Medicine just helps you work WITH that instead of fighting your way through summer feeling inflamed and miserable.
Also–the clinic is dark and cool. The perfect internal temperature, mood soothing place to be this summer.
Calm down support system. Physically and emotionally.

Insomnia and functionality and mental health
You know that version of yourself that can handle things gracefully?
Insomnia slowly murders her.
Because after enough lack of sleep or bad sleep, these symptoms become the everyday:
Anxiety. Pain. Irritability. Cravings. Inflammation. ADHD.
People start blaming themselves for “not coping well” when sometimes they are simply profoundly under-rested.
And bad sleep compounds FAST.
One bad night? Annoying.
Three weeks of fragmented sleep?
Now your hormones are fighting everyone in the group chat.
This is why insomnia is never just about nighttime.
It changes: pain sensitivity, blood sugar, stress tolerance, digestion,
mood, focus, recovery, & immune function.
Everything costs more when the body stops repairing deeply.
Acupuncture helps regulate the systems underneath sleep: stress physiology, circulation, nervous system tone, hormonal rhythm,
temperature regulation. Because sleep is infrastructure. Not a luxury.
If your body has forgotten how to fully power down at night, that pattern tends to escalate — not
magically improve because you bought magnesium gummies at Target.

Chronic pain will gaslight you if you let it.
Because you can still technically function.
You still go to work.
Answer texts.
Make dinner.
Show up.
Meanwhile your body feels like a haunted Victorian child.
Everything hurts for no clear reason. Old injuries suddenly wake back up. Your joints predict weather better than the news. You sleep weird. You flare after stress. You’re exhausted from managing your own body all the time. And after a while people start saying things like: “Well, getting older is hard.”
No.
Inflammation is hard.
Living clenched against pain is hard.
A nervous system that never fully downshifts is hard.
Whether it’s: RA, fibromyalgia, old injuries, post-viral inflammation,
or pain that migrates around your body like it pays rent there…
chronic pain is rarely just structural. It’s inflammatory. Neurological.
Stress-responsive. Systemic.
Which is why treating pain well means treating the physiology underneath the pain too.
Better sleep.
Better circulation.
Less nervous system bracing.
Less inflammatory amplification.
Because pain should not quietly become your entire personality.
If your body has been stuck in survival mode for a long time, let’s interrupt the pattern. Time to set up your appointment, call 443-219-1220 today!

Small Intestine and Discernment
You know that feeling when your stomach technically isn’t “upset”…
but also nothing about your digestion feels particularly happy, clear, or settled?
Like:
you’re bloated after meals,
random foods suddenly betray you,
you’re exhausted after eating,
you crave sugar but feel worse afterward,
you feel puffy and foggy and weirdly heavy in your body.
In Chinese medicine, the Small Intestine is connected to discernment.
Not just physically: “What do I absorb and what do I let go of?” But emotionally too. And honestly? Modern life asks us to process an absolutely unholy amount of input every day.
News.
Stress.
Opinions.
Noise.
Information.
Stimulation.
Emotion.
Screens.
Other people’s urgency.
A lot of bodies are overloaded. Digestively and emotionally.
And sometimes symptoms are the body’s way of saying:
“I cannot keep processing at this speed.”
One of the things we love about Chinese medicine is that it helps people slow down enough to actually hear themselves again.
To notice:
what nourishes them,
what drains them,
what inflames them,
what helps them feel clear instead of chaotic.
That kind of discernment changes health at every level.
If your digestion has been feeling confused, reactive, or overwhelmed lately, your body may be asking for more support than restriction.

We can usually tell within about thirty seconds whether someone’s back pain is just in their back.
Sometimes people walk in carrying their pain like a heavy backpack they forgot they were wearing years ago.
Their muscles are braced.
Their breathing is shallow.
Their nervous system hasn’t unclenched in months. Maybe years.
And often somewhere in the middle of the appointment they say something like: “I don’t even know what relaxed feels like anymore.”
That lands in our heart every single time.
Because the body adapts to the life it’s living.
To stress.
To grief.
To overwork.
To sitting too much.
To carrying too much.
To always being the reliable one.
To never fully resting.
And eventually the body starts speaking on behalf of all of it.
Sometimes through low back pain.
One of the things we love most about this medicine is that it gives us a way to listen without judgment.
To get curious instead of punitive.
To help the body soften enough that healing can actually begin.
If your back has been trying to get your attention lately, we’d love to help you listen differently.

More than pain relief
Acupuncture for back pain? Of course–but that’s the tip of the iceberg!
In the clinic this week we’ve treated: insomnia, hot flashes, migraines, anxiety, IBS, fertility support, jaw tension, burnout, cycle irregularities, neck pain, stress-induced flareups, and someone whose eye wouldn’t stop twitching from exhaustion.
Because Chinese medicine does not separate the body into disconnected compartments.
Sleep affects hormones.
Hormones affect mood.
Stress affects digestion.
Inflammation affects anxiety.
Pain affects sleep.
Everything talks to everything.
Which is why people are often shocked that acupuncture can help symptoms Western medicine treats completely separately. Not because it’s magic. Because the body is an interconnected system.
This medicine works by helping regulate patterns across multiple systems at once: nervous system, circulation, inflammation, muscle tension, digestion, recovery, stress physiology.
And honestly?
A lot of patients come in for one issue and then realize: “Oh. I forgot what it felt like to feel GOOD in my body.”
That’s our favorite part.
If you’ve been dealing with symptoms that seem unrelated but your body feels “off” as a whole, there’s usually more connection there than you think.
That’s the lens we bring into treatment every day.

Acid Reflux
Your acid reflux might have more to do with your nervous system than your tomato sauce.
A lot of people notice reflux gets dramatically worse during: stress, burnout, overeating late at night, travel, anxiety, poor sleep, periods of emotional overload.
That’s not random.
Because digestion works best in parasympathetic state: rest and digest. Which is hard to access when your body is running on cortisol, caffeine, adrenaline, multitasking, and shallow breathing.
A lot of reflux patients end up trapped in this loop: stress → reflux → poor sleep → more inflammation → more stress → worse digestion.
And eventually people become afraid of food itself.
Chinese medicine looks at reflux as part of a larger functional pattern — not just isolated stomach acid.
We’re looking at: stress physiology, sleep, eating patterns, circulation, inflammation, digestive regulation, and how safe the body actually feels while digesting.
Because symptoms usually make more sense when you zoom out.
If your reflux keeps returning no matter how “careful” you are, your body may be asking for a more whole-picture approach.

Elbow pain
Pickleball is not supposed to permanently destroy your elbow.
Neither is golf.
Or tennis.
Or lifting weights.
Or carrying your giant emotional support Stanley cup everywhere.
But a lot of people develop elbow pain that just… never fully leaves.
They rest it. Stretch it. Ice it. Brace it. Massage it.
Then the second they use the arm again: boom. Pain returns.
That’s usually a sign there’s more going on than simple overuse.
Because one person’s “tennis elbow” is actually an inflammation problem.
Another person’s is coming from shoulder instability.
Another person’s is stress tension and constant gripping.
Another person’s tissue simply isn’t recovering well anymore.
Same diagnosis.
Very different root causes.
This is one of the things Chinese medicine does exceptionally well:
figuring out WHY the body keeps recreating the pattern.
We look at: circulation, muscle compensation, stress load, sleep,
inflammation, recovery, whole-body tension patterns.
Because when you address the root correctly, the body usually stops fighting so hard to compensate.
If your elbow pain keeps returning no matter what you do, your body may be asking a more complicated question than “Did you stretch enough?”
That’s the kind of pattern-based work we do every day. Let’s get you back in the game!

Joy
Here are a few things I’ve been doing lately to help keep my own nervous system present when things are “not fine” or business as usual in the world.
Breathing before grabbing my phone in the morning.
Being intentional about how much news I consume instead of marinating in panic for six straight
hours.
Treating rest as replenishment instead of something I have to “earn.”
Letting myself have fun even while life is heavy.
Summer is not supposed to be optimized within an inch of its life.
Sometimes healing looks like swimming, laughing, music, popsicles, dancing badly in your
kitchen, or sitting outside with people you love.
This is all a way of me remaining connected to my own heart underneath all the noise.
What do I actually want?
What feels nourishing?
What makes me feel more alive instead of more depleted?
Chinese medicine has taught me over and over that joy is not frivolous.
Connection is not frivolous.
Rest is not frivolous.
Pleasure is not frivolous.
These things regulate us. And when people come in for acupuncture, this is part of the work too: helping the body remember that it is allowed to soften, feel good, recover, and reconnect to itself again.
If your nervous system has been running on fumes lately, you do not have to keep carrying it alone.
