Hand crafted soap, made in small batches with quality ingredients, love, and a bit of fun

I got to log out of work on time today. It meant dinner was at a normal time, which also meant I got the chance to make soap earlier than I thought. I made another batch of honey rounds first as a warm up batch, then I put together another loaf. Meet “Delight” from start to finish. I’ve been making this soap design for five years now. It was one of my very first designs and I just adore it. Once I got into making my own soap dough, I added the hibiscus to make it a bit more tropical. Delight is scented in mango with bright colored stripes inside. I’m taking this one to Tiki Fever. Anything left after the event will get posted in the online shop.

Didn’t get as much done today as I wanted. I unmolded some soaps made earlier in the week, then made some soap dough embeds for some very special bars. Feels good to get back into the details.
Some of these will be on the website, some are for Tiki Fever in November, some are for Atomic Vendor Fair in December. Going to make as much as possible this summer. Wish me luck.
If all goes well, the online store will have new designs in the middle of August, or September at the very latest. Fingers crossed, my intentions are heartfelt.

Productive day. Got all my lye water made for the nine batches of oils I prepped yesterday. I made three batches of soap. I selected four seemingly easy soaps, got through three and called it a day. First batch, a tester for a fragrance. Easy peasy. Second batch just had white and natural as the colors, also went well. Third batch was my coffee scrub and it didn’t quite go sideways but it gave me a hard time. I’m taking that as a sign to stop. Time to clean up and get ready for my desk job tomorrow. More soap making to happen this week.

After some guilt and then procrastination about cleaning the house, I finally got into pulling ingredients for production. The soap factory has officially started up again.

Spent last night and this afternoon working on what soaps I’m going to be making for the online shop, Tiki Fever in November, and the Atomic Market in December. Got a bunch of designs in my head and put them on paper. You know the hard part? Matching the design and the scent. Some matches are easy, and some are tough. The tough ones mean that I search through every single bottle looking for a match, and then opening half (or more) of them sniffing each one to be certain. My nose needs a rest.

I know, it’s been more than a while since I’ve posted anything. I have been adventuring down several different artistic paths for the last few months. That project is now over and I’ll be returning to soap making in May! Thanks to everyone that asked for a specific soap type, I’m going to make them all and post to the shop when cured. In the meantime, here’s a commission that was just delivered. I really enjoyed doing as it pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I taught myself something new. Will be making these bee-lovelies this summer too.

I am not telling any tall tales when I say I think about soap every day. Last weekend I went to visit my sister, and we went shopping at a local flea market. As I love shopping for stuff not found in traditional stores, I came across a herbalist. Her stall was filled with all kinds of good things and boy I wished I was more knowledgeable. And she makes soap too! I bought a couple of items for future experiments for myself, and was super happy to support another soap maker. Research first, but definitely different soaps later this year. I’ll be back making soap for the shop in April.

I love the way this honey soap came out! The client wanted a bee-tastic theme and I was so happy to make it happen. Once these cure a bit more I’ll clean them up and add some special details. Gonna make some for the shop as well. These are small soaps, perfect for your guests.
