Almost done making soap for my upcoming November and December markets. I’m going to hang out with friends this Labor Day, but I had to pour part of my (hopefully super cool) holiday gift box this morning so it all cures on time. I’ll reveal the package when done.

I intended to cut this earlier in the week, but I flaked. I am really pleased the way this turned out. Smells like fresh pink grapefruit and it’s got a chicken and a rainbow splatter. Yay!

The cut of my rainbow soap. I strive for perfection, but it’s not always meant to be perfect. I knew the layers would not be exactly straight as my batter got thicker with the blue and purple. I could not find my ring light, so here is the cut photo by photo. Unmolding, cleaning the top edges of the soap, cutting off the ends, then measuring and cutting each individual bar. Nine total bars were cut from one soap mold. This soap smells lovely, it’s fresh and lightly floral, even if it is a bit wonky.

Been a while since I posted to let you guys know I am still making soap. Truth be told, I got a new position at my desk job and I’m spending a lot of time there, learning the ins and outs and tackling projects as they arise.
I’ve been making soap, but not photographing my journey. Today I remembered to take my phone with me as I created. I was going to make two batches today, but only made one. Apparently I forgot how hard it is to do straight layers. Fingers crossed this one looks good when I unmold it later this week. I promise to show you the cut.

The husband will be out of the house for four straight days next week. You know what time it is? You guessed right. Time to overtake the kitchen with soap making and heat up leftovers in the microwave for my meals. We made a run to Restaurant Depot today for soap ingredients so I don’t run out once I get in the groove. Also bought a gallon of Frank’s so we don’t run out of that either.

I am going to try and make a couple more batches this weekend, but I have household chores and other responsibilities that need my attention. Dang it all to heck. I did cut “Delight” and added some gold mica to the flowers. And since I had my paint brush handy, I added some gold to the honey bee soaps. The cute bee-rounds will be available on the website late summer once they cure.

I got to log out of work on time today. It meant dinner was at a normal time, which also meant I got the chance to make soap earlier than I thought. I made another batch of honey rounds first as a warm up batch, then I put together another loaf. Meet “Delight” from start to finish. I’ve been making this soap design for five years now. It was one of my very first designs and I just adore it. Once I got into making my own soap dough, I added the hibiscus to make it a bit more tropical. Delight is scented in mango with bright colored stripes inside. I’m taking this one to Tiki Fever. Anything left after the event will get posted in the online shop.

Didn’t get as much done today as I wanted. I unmolded some soaps made earlier in the week, then made some soap dough embeds for some very special bars. Feels good to get back into the details.
Some of these will be on the website, some are for Tiki Fever in November, some are for Atomic Vendor Fair in December. Going to make as much as possible this summer. Wish me luck.
If all goes well, the online store will have new designs in the middle of August, or September at the very latest. Fingers crossed, my intentions are heartfelt.

Productive day. Got all my lye water made for the nine batches of oils I prepped yesterday. I made three batches of soap. I selected four seemingly easy soaps, got through three and called it a day. First batch, a tester for a fragrance. Easy peasy. Second batch just had white and natural as the colors, also went well. Third batch was my coffee scrub and it didn’t quite go sideways but it gave me a hard time. I’m taking that as a sign to stop. Time to clean up and get ready for my desk job tomorrow. More soap making to happen this week.
