Your thyroid is not just a lab number. It’s the battery of your body.
I see this all the time — “your labs are normal,” but your body is telling a completely different story.
Because numbers can be deceiving.
TSH in range doesn’t always mean optimal.
T4 alone doesn’t tell me how well you’re actually converting and using thyroid hormone.
Sometimes it’s not even the thyroid.
It’s the stress load.
It’s inflammation.
If your battery keeps running low, we have to ask why.
Your body is always communicating — we just have to listen beyond the labs.

Anxiety isn’t just “in your head.” It’s in your environment, your inputs, your pace of life.
But it’s not just that. It’s the daily work demands that don’t shut off, managing kids and schedules, maintaining a home, groceries, cooking, cleaning… on repeat. The random things that break. The mental checklist that never clears.
Something simple like opening Instagram can feel like a hit to the nervous system. Constant ads, noise.
This isn’t a small load. It’s chronic stress.
And it doesn’t show up as just one type of anxiety. It can look like feeling but exhausted, a full on sensation throughout the whole body, everything, tension in the body, or that quiet “I’m but I’m not fine” feeling.
Here’s what gets missed. We keep trying to fix anxiety at the surface.
You’re not reacting to just today. You’re reacting to the accumulation of all the above.
We may not control the world around us, but we can change how the body processes it, recovers, and finds safety again.
That’s where things begin to shift.

You wake up exhausted… even after a full night of sleep.
But it’s not just the fatigue.
It’s the shift in your drive. The quiet loss of motivation.
The things that used to feel or no longer pull you in the same way.
You find yourself doing less, not because you want to—but because the energy and interest just aren’t there.
Your body feels heavier.
Your mind feels slower.
There’s a noticeable loss of spark.
You may still show up to your responsibilities, but it takes more out of you.
And the parts of life that used to bring you joy start to feel distant.
You’ve been told everything looks “normal.”
That it’s stress.
That you just need rest.
But you don’t feel like yourself.
This isn’t just being tired.
It often shows up as a combination of low energy, reduced motivation, and a gradual disconnection from the things that once made you feel like you.
When this becomes persistent, there’s usually more going on beneath the surface.
Often involving the nervous system, hormones, immune activity, and how well your body is able to absorb and use nutrients.
A deeper evaluation matters.
Because this isn’t just about energy—
it’s about restoring your drive, your clarity, and that sense of engagement with your own life.

Your skin is not the problem. It’s a reflection of what’s happening inside your body.
When you’re dealing with breakouts that won’t settle, dryness that nothing seems to fix, or flare-ups that keep coming back, it’s usually not about finding the “right” product. That’s where most people get stuck.
Skin changes often follow deeper shifts. Hormones start fluctuating, the nervous system stays in a constant stress response, the gut isn’t functioning optimally, and inflammation slowly builds. Your skin ends up carrying that load.
Skin concerns I commonly see:
• Acne (persistent or hormonal)
• Rosacea
• Eczema
• Psoriasis
• Hives and allergies
• Perioral dermatitis
• Melasma and hyperpigmentation
• Hidradenitis Suppurativa
• Chronic dryness or sensitivity
• Hair thinning associated with scalp inflammation
• Dermatillomania and Trichotillomania
You can keep trying new products, or you can start understanding what your body is actually asking for. That’s where things begin to change, and where skin health becomes something sustainable instead of temporary.

Digestive Health is critical to our whole body.
Bloating, irregular stools, and food sensitivities... are some of the hardest symptoms to experience, and are typically quiet persistent - requiring time and effort.
Underneath GI conditions like , I commonly see inflammation and at times a lot of nervous system involvement. With IBD (like Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis), there’s also an immune component driving inflammation as well.
The goal isn’t to keep restricting food.. As you will eventually end up with nothing to eat or nourish. It’s to understand why the gut is reacting in the first place and support it accordingly.

Something feels off, but it’s hard to explain in one sentence.
Your cycles aren’t consistent. Your skin isn’t behaving the way it used to. Your energy, weight, or digestion may have shifted.. and it doesn’t feel like one isolated issue.
That’s often how presents.
It’s not just about the ovaries. It’s a more complex, multi-system pattern involving hormones, metabolism, inflammation, and gut changes.. all influencing each other.
🌱 Irregular or missing periods
🌱 Acne or skin changes
🌱 Hair thinning or excess hair growth
🌱 Weight changes or resistance to weight loss
🌱 Low or inconsistent energy
🌱 Sugar cravings or crashes
Which is why trying to address it with one quick fix usually leads to frustration.
The approach has to be more intentional than that. More tailored. More complete.
When you understand how your specific pattern shows up, you can start supporting your body in a way that actually makes sense.. and things begin to feel more stable over time.

So what if I told you, you might be already on hormone replacement therapy and you did not even know it?
Fun fact: thyroid medication a form of HRT, too!

In celebration of women (and cats). Standing with women everywhere today. Happy International Women’s Day. Love and peace.
Dr. Sharhan
Today is International Women’s Day. We have come so far and still have so far to go. Our rights are being stripped. One in three women have suffered sexual abuse. It is an outrage. It is wrong. It must change. I am so grateful to all the strong and wonderful women in my life, my girlfriends who hold me through it all. Thank you to all the women who help make the function - I cannot do it alone. Thank you to all the women out there who help lift other women up and foresee a better world for us all…
🍒 Hello digital world.. I was set to go on a roll to create content for our virtual reality - and right after that last post I got hit with that nice viral gut bug that's going around and was very queasy for 2 weeks. It boggles my mind even as a doctor how a microscopic creature can get you down on your knees! Crazy, no? Oh well so here we are re-starting the content journey...
