📸 Getting clean, professional client photos can make a huge difference in how your work is perceived—and booked. You don’t need a full studio setup, just consistency and intention. Here’s what actually works for makeup artists:

Lighting is everything
Natural light will always be your best friend. Sit your client facing a window so light hits evenly across the face. Avoid overhead lighting—it creates harsh shadows under the eyes. If you don’t have good natural light, use a ring light at eye level (not above) and keep it soft, not too bright.

Keep your background clean
A simple, uncluttered background keeps the focus on your work. White, beige, or a soft glam backdrop works best. Even a clean wall or curtain can elevate your photos instantly.

Camera positioning matters
Shoot slightly above eye level for flattering angles. Keep the camera straight—not tilted—to avoid distortion. If you’re using an iPhone, use the back camera and tap to focus on the eyes.
