What exactly is buccal massage? 🤍

You may have heard that buccal massage involves working inside the mouth — and it can — but that’s only one part of the work.

So much can be done externally through intentional sculpting massage, working with the muscles, fascia and soft tissues of the face. When appropriate, intraoral buccal techniques give me another way to work the cheek and jaw area from the inside while supporting the tissue from the outside.

But it’s never about having to work inside the mouth.

Every face is different. Every person holds tension differently. And sometimes, beautiful work can be done completely from the outside. ✨

My goal is to work with your face — releasing tension, encouraging healthy movement through the tissues and creating that rested, refreshed, naturally sculpted look.

When I sat down and really thought about what I want Mi Amor to be, I kept coming back to this.

I’ve loved skincare for as long as I can remember, but Mi Amor has become about so much more than skin.

Sunday Grace 🤍

I’ve always loved the story of Ruth.

She made this enormous decision to stay with Naomi and follow her into a life where she really didn’t know what was waiting for her.

There were no guarantees.

But Ruth had made her choice. She loved Naomi, she chose her people, and most importantly, she chose her God.

And she stayed faithful to that choice.

I think there’s something so beautiful about that. We spend so much of life wondering if we’re making the right decision, looking for reassurance or wanting to know how everything will turn out before we move.

Ruth didn’t know.

She just knew who she was choosing.

And God took that simple, faithful choice and wove it into a story far bigger than Ruth could have imagined. She would eventually become part of the family line that led to Jesus.

Maybe faith isn’t always knowing where the road leads.

Sometimes it’s deciding who you’re going with. 🤍

Have you ever heard of Buccal Massage? 💗

I’ve been learning more and more about facial massage, fascia, and the way we hold so much tension in our faces — especially around the jaw.

Buccal massage is a technique that works the muscles of the face from both the outside and inside the mouth (with gloves, of course 😊). Working from inside allows me to reach muscles around the cheeks and jaw in a completely different way.

It can help release tightness and tension, especially around the jaw, while also supporting that beautiful sculpted and lifted look we love from facial massage.

What I really love about it, though, is that it isn’t just about how your face looks. Sometimes we don’t even realize how much tension we’re carrying until someone helps us let it go. 🤍

I’m continuing to learn and practice this technique, and I’m so excited to begin incorporating it into some of my facial treatments at Mi Amor.

I’ve learned that sometimes the hardest person to forgive isn’t someone else.

It’s yourself.

I can look back at certain seasons of my life and wish I had treated myself differently.

The things I used to cope.
The choices I made when I was hurting.
The ways I neglected myself.
The things I allowed.
The ways I tried to fill places inside me that were empty.

And sometimes I’ve wondered…

How do I forgive myself for the pain I caused me?

Maybe part of healing is going back in your heart and seeing that version of yourself differently.

Not as someone you need to punish.

But as someone who was hurting.

Someone who didn’t know everything you know now.
Someone who was trying to get through life the best way she knew how at the time.

I think I’d like to sit beside that version of me now.

Put my arms around her and say,

You’re okay.
I understand you now.
I love you.
You don’t have to carry this anymore.
We can let it go.

God has already offered me grace.

Maybe it’s time I stopped withholding it from myself.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

Maybe healing isn’t forgetting who you used to be.

Maybe it’s finally learning to love her, too. 🤍

Sometimes I look back at earlier versions of myself and wish I could change things.

Choices I made.
Ways I treated myself.
Time I wish I could get back.

But maybe grace isn’t asking us to keep looking backward.

God already knows every part of our story—the beautiful parts and the messy ones—and He still says, “See, I am doing a new thing.”

Maybe the person I used to be isn’t someone I need to be ashamed of.

Maybe she was simply someone God was still loving, still teaching, still carrying.

And maybe today, instead of wishing we could rewrite yesterday, we can thank God that He is still writing our story.

There is still more ahead. 🤍
