Saturday will be a bit chillier... sounds like the perfect day to take a class on making fire in the woods 🔥 🤔 🌳

Join us for our Wilderness Survival Workshop Series this Saturday at the Sands Point Preserve at 10am or the Vanderbilt Museum at 2pm and learn the basics of Modern Firecraft

We have just two spots left for tomorrow’s SkillCraft Explorers class in Patchogue. (9/16)

This week, ages 7–11 will be building with natural materials, creating a simple outdoor shelter, and exploring how effort, creativity, and teamwork can turn a few basic materials into something that feels like a real shared space.

Parents are welcome to join in. Message us (or visit our site) if you’d like one of the last spots!

From precarious to powerful.
Three poles and a length of cord don’t look like much at first. Then come the knots, the balance, the testing, the adjustments—and eventually the moment when you’re willing to trust your work with your own weight.

Kids between 11 and 14 often have more knowledge than the wisdom and judgment to use it. They are testing independence, making bigger decisions, taking greater risks, and learning where confidence ends and judgment begins.

That’s what SkillCraft Labs are all about: using knowledge creatively, testing your assumptions, making better decisions, and developing the judgment to know when confidence is earned. For kids in our Praxis: Pathfinders program, those lessons reach far beyond the structure.

Our Thursday, September 10th Praxis: Pathfinders session sold out in less than 24 hours, so we added an extra SkillCraft Lab on Wednesday, September 9th for ages 11–14.

This SkillCraft Lab session will focus on Wilderness Survival Basics through hands-on outdoor learning, practical problem-solving, teamwork, and healthy challenge. It’s a great introduction to the Pathfinders program and a chance to join the first week even if you missed the original Thursday session.

We still have space in the added Wednesday class and would love to build out the group a bit more.

As the waves retract, we get a glimpse of a world that last for mere seconds at a time. As the waves break and wash up the beach, the swash zone reveals hundreds of bean clams, mole crabs, and other friends surfacing for moments to capture their meals before retreating beneath the sand to await the next wave. Most people never even notice the brief scurry of activity, but now you know to look.

Remember, Not every Miracle Mile adventure lives in the woods.
