This client has been coming to me for years, usually every 4 weeks. This time? She got sick, then went on a trip. By the time she could come in, 10 weeks had passed.

How are you spending your New Year’s Eve?

Me? I’m on the couch with a couple of my favorite furry companions, waiting for my family and one kitty cat to come home, and honestly, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
This year taught me that New Years Eve doesn’t always have to look like parties, confetti, drinking and a late night-Although I do always look forward to seeing the spectacular (only in Hawaii) fireworks shows. Sometimes it’s the quiet moments. The purring, the paw on my lap, the peace of knowing my most cherished people are out there having their version of a great time, living their best lives and they’ll walk through that door soon.
I used to think I was missing out when I chose nights like this. Now I realize this IS the good stuff. The gratitude I feel for this life—for every person, every furry face, every ordinary beautiful moment—it’s everything.
My family means the world to me. My pets are my therapy. And choosing to be present, to stay positive, to appreciate what I have instead of chasing what I don’t-Those are my resolutions every single day.
Here’s to a 2026 filled with more of this. More presence. More gratitude. More knowing exactly where I belong.
