Well, I have some news - not what I was hoping for. I've started reaching out to each and everyone of you but it will take some time. I've had another development that has led to the decision of stepping away from my chair and retiring. I'm hoping that once I get through these next two surgeries, I can look into other aspects of the beauty industry, at least part-time. I was diagnosed with Kienbock's Disease in my left wrist and hand. I started having problems around four years ago, but after getting the results from the MRI, it was finally confirmed. This condition causes restricted blood flow to the bones in my hand. Some of you have witnessed the severe hand cramping I've had while working, which doesn't just go away - it can last anywhere from half an hour to six hours; the longest episode lasted six hours. Cortisone injections have helped with the pain, but since they saw in the MRI, 2 of the bones on the top of my hand have been deteriorated by osteoarthritis. That will keep happening until I get a full fusion of my left wrist. So, that answers the question if I'll be able to do hair - it saddens me so much! I still love the beauty industry, and it's a great loss! I've missed all my visits with all of you. I’ve been so lucky to have developed such an amazing clientele in my 40 yrs!!!! Reach out, and we can always meet for lunch or coffee!!! ❤️ I'm having the fusion on June 30th, and then once they are happy with healing of fusion I'll have the shoulder replacement. I need my left arm and hand for shoulder surgery, so I need to take care of this first. I've been dealing with appointments and such since March, so I'm ready to get going on all of this. Like I said, I'll be reaching out soon!!!!! ❤️

Well the saga continues!! After four decades of loving being a hairdresser my body has clearly worn down. Despite managing related issues for a couple of years with my left wrist/hand a recent consultation with a new physician has brought concern. My exrays are crazy looking- all the bones look smooched together. Fortunately, the excellent health of my right hand rules out congenital concerns, and we are currently exploring Kienbock's disease as a potential diagnosis. That disease affects blood flow to those bones. Waiting for MRI. Some individuals have noticed me taking regular breaks due to episodes of finger cramping, likely associated with this condition or something else. I’ve had the cramping last up to 5-6 hours! So having a shoulder surgery that would need me to use my left hand by itself for at least four weeks or more I have postponed that surgery till we figure this out. My shoulder surgery is such a major surgery I have to go into it in good shape. I will keep everyone updated as soon as I know more! Not having my career and clients has been so hard! Miss everyone!!!😳
