Jaw clinching hack. #tmjd #tension #pain #anatomy 10/17/2025

For my jaw clenchers! I haven't actual listened to it yet, but Aaron with SCI Body Therapy knows his stuff. I trust you'll learn something and giggle too!

Jaw clinching hack. #tmjd #tension #pain #anatomy

Do you clench your jaw? Or deal with TMJ pain? 😬Let’s take a look at how this influences your pelvic floor.

👉🏽 First, tension and stress that you hold anywhere in your body have a tendency to spill over to your pelvic floor. Learning stress relief techniques help in a variety of ways from feeling calmer and improving quality of life to regulating hormones.

So, take the time to learn strategies that work for you. Regular practice of breathing techniques can help you find your tension and learn to let it go. So can meditation, going for a walk, or participating in activities you find soothing.

👉🏽 Next, let’s take a look at the position of your pelvic floor and jaw. Your soft palate, diaphragm, pelvic floor, and feet contain the only horizontally positioned muscles in your body. Because of this, they have significant influence over each other.

Try this simple test. Take a big inhale. Feel the movement that occurs in your body. Then, clench your jaw. Take another big inhale. How is it different? There’s a whole lot less movement, isn’t there? When your jaw muscles don’t move well, neither does your diaphragm, or consequently, your pelvic floor.

👉🏽 Last, clenching your jaw tends to occur with a forward head position relative to the rest of your body. As your head moves forward, your upper abs and your pelvic floor tighten to compensate for this redistribution of weight. But as you relax your jaw and move your head back, your pelvic floor and upper abs can let go of that tension.

Just another chapter in how distant and seemingly unrelated symptoms are actually interconnected! 🤝
