🔥A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.🔥

I was sitting here thinking about one of my clients who has been coming to me since she was a teenager. She’s about 27 now, and when I think about it, she has literally stuck with me through it ALL, the transitions, the relocations, me leaving, me coming back, everything.

And I just became grateful.

Then I started thinking about the others who are still with me…and then I thought about the ones who aren’t.

And God gave me a different perspective.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I made the decision to come back into the salon. But this time, I wasn’t going back in my own strength. I said I was going back WITH GOD. I was going to trust Him to send me what I needed, WHO I needed, and the people who needed ME.

Period.

I don’t want anybody else’s clientele.
I don’t want anybody else’s motion.
I don’t want anybody else’s portion.

I just want what……..and WHO………is for me.

And since making that decision, I have watched God do exactly that.

Everything God has sent me has been NEW CLIENTELE. I have been booked and busy for weeks, I give God all the glory.

Humbly serving.

But here’s what really hit me today:

I didn’t just gain who I was supposed to gain. I lost who I was supposed to lose.

And I’m learning not to call every departure a loss.

The Bible says:

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 🔥🙌🏾

And verse 5 says there is “a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.”

WHEW.

Some people I was supposed to embrace in one season, I was supposed to refrain from embracing in another. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 This has blessed me today!

And that doesn’t make them bad.
It doesn’t make me bad.
It means the season changed.

The hairstylist I was four years ago is not the woman I am today. I’m not the same mentally. I’m not the same emotionally. I’m definitely not the same spiritually.

So why would I expect everything and everybody who fit me THEN to still fit me NOW? Jesus!

Some people fit the mold of who I was.
They don’t necessarily fit the mold of who I’m becoming.

And I’m okay with that.

“That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.” — Ecclesiastes 3:15 KJV

“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be…”

What was didn’t disappear just because the form changed.

I DIDN’T LOSE THE GIFT.
I DIDN’T LOSE THE TALENT.
I DIDN’T LOSE THE HUSTLE.
I DIDN’T LOSE THE ANOINTING GOD PLACED ON MY HANDS.

I lost what was necessary for me to lose so there could be room for what belongs in THIS season.

So I no longer look at every loss as a loss.

Some things are simply transition.

Some things have fulfilled their purpose.

Some people were part of a season God used to help build me, teach me, stretch me, and prepare me for where I am now.

And when that season ends, I don’t have to chase it, force it, recreate it, or mourn it forever.

I can thank God for what WAS while still having faith for what IS and what SHALL BE.

If it belongs in my life in this season, I trust God to sustain it.

And if God allows it to leave, I’m learning to trust Him with that too.

Because there is a time to embrace…

and there is also a time to refrain from embracing.

This season, I don’t need everybody.

I just want who’s for me, what’s for me, and who God has called me to serve. 🙏🏾
