I just realized I haven’t posted since Ev was born😅🫠 I’m back at work from leave and doing my best to freshen you all up! Thank you to all of my lovely clients who have waited for me to come back!

Everett James Hapke arrived 11 days early and we are so excited and overjoyed to have this extra time with him!

I’m going to be a bit nostalgic and emotional for a minute…
I was reminded yesterday that 9 years ago it was my first day of cosmetology school. Woah😅 Looking back, that 24 year old girl had one thing on her mind and that was going after what scared her the most. I thank her everyday for the decision she made. I had already graduated Bradley. I had plans to continue and get my masters in Milwaukee until one night, I simply knew it wasn’t right. I was SO AFRAID to tell my parents. When I told my friends half of them were not shocked, which both surprised me but made me realize I should’ve done this years prior😆 I knew it would be difficult since I had absolutely no clientele in the Peoria area, but I also knew I wasn’t moving back to Ottawa or up by my dad. I needed to be on my own and do it myself in a town where I knew about 4 people. Deep down I was so excited to go after what I was passionate about for the first time in my life yet at the same time I was incredibly scared. I knew I’d have to live with someone just to make ends meet and probably work 2 jobs to afford anything while I put myself through school (which I did both of those things) Part of me felt embarrassed doing all of this after already going to Bradley and starting something new at 24 which sounds so silly and dumb as I type that out but it’s the truth. Yet deep down I knew it was right because I was doing it for myself and my future self. Now 9 years later, because of that one decision, the rest or my life fell into place. I found my first salon home through the owner of my cosmo school, I met my husband through my co worker, now sister in law and I created a life I didn’t ever see happening the way it did and yet here we are. I created some of the greatest friendships a woman could have while also learning not everyone is looking out for your best interest, only their own. I’ve learned more about myself in the last 9 years than I could ever imagine. I guess I just wanted to share what was on my mind once I realized it’s been 9 years to the day of my first day of cosmetology school incase anyone else needed to read this. I feel like I’ve lived 3 different lives since then😅 but I’ve always followed my gut through it all and have done what I needed to do. I’m incredibly proud and thankful for that 24 year old me. She selfishly took control of her life and her dreams and never looked back no matter how scary it seemed at the time. She’s a constant reminder that I have it in me to face whatever I need too and overcome whatever may come my way. Here’s your reminder that’s it’s never too late m, follow your gut and you’re capable of handling whatever life may throw at you 💗
