Let’s take a moment and talk about hormonal hyperpigmentation, aka: melasma! It’s the ugly details no one warns us as teenagers, no one is able to say… “you will get this after pregnancy, after hormonal changes, and if you continue to leave your skin unprotected!”
I don’t remember being told that as a teenager…and here we are. In my mid 40’s (yes I am sharing my age) dealing with unruly skin changes!
My mom would tease me and tell me to take care of my spots… and as I’ve gotten older, it’s become a priority. Skin Health that is!
This is my journey. For those that have followed me since early May, I’ve started on a retinol and HQ4% protocol. Starting with 1-2 pumps NIGHTLY of each mixed together. I increased by 1 pump after 2 weeks til I was at 4 pumps of each for a good 3 weeks.
My skin cleared. Then the heat came. We also threw in a ReNew with our laser, topped with a peel. Did I shock my pigmentation to come back? Probably. Especially since I stopped the protocol during the month of August and most of September. (If you live in AZ you know).
With that… it came back- rebound melasma (it’s a thing). So… two weeks ago I went back on it. This time just 2 pumps each for 1 week and now consistent with the HQ4%! And you can see how quickly it’s cleared!!
Moral of the story… trust the process. Stick to the plan. Ask us today about a skin care regimen based on your goals! It’s def not a one size fits all!

Botox, Dysport, Xeomin… why are there so many?! 💉
They’re all wrinkle relaxers and work in a similar way by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles, but they’re not exactly the same.

✨ Botox — the one most people recognize! It’s a tried-and-true option that gives predictable results and can be used to treat a variety of areas.
✨ Dysport — tends to have a little more spread, which can make it a great option for larger treatment areas like the forehead. Some patients also notice their results starting to kick in a little sooner.
✨ Xeomin — sometimes called the “naked” tox because it’s formulated without the accessory proteins found in some other wrinkle relaxers. It’s another great option for softening expression lines while keeping results natural.

So which one is best? There really isn't one answer! Your facial anatomy, muscle movement, treatment area, previous experience with tox + the look you're going for all play a part in what your injector may recommend.

And remember, the units between brands are NOT interchangeable, so don't compare your Dysport units to your friend's Botox units!
