let’s talk about something that can make or break a spray tan before the color even has a chance to do its thing.

your skin prep.

spray tan solution develops best when it has an even canvas to work with, which means the little things you do before & after your appointment matter more than you might think.

leftover lotion, body oil or deodorant can create a barrier in certain areas. exfoliating or shaving at the wrong time can leave skin feeling a little too freshly worked. and once your tan is developing, water, sweat and tight clothing can all interfere with an even result.

good prep & proper development time and a little aftercare can make such a difference in how evenly your color develops and fades.

the tan may happen in the treatment room…

but some of the best results start before you ever walk through the door✨

dry skin usually sends us straight to one conclusion:

i need a better moisturizer🧴

and sometimes, sure, you might need something different.

but even the loveliest moisturizer has a hard job when the rest of your routine is constantly taking more than it gives.

a cleanser that leaves your face feeling stripped. a little too much exfoliation. several active products all competing for attention.

long, hot showers that feel amazing but leave your skin less than thrilled.

then moisturizer gets handed the mess and expected to fix everything.

instead of immediately replacing it, take a look at the routine surrounding it.

your skin may not need a heavier cream or another new product.

it might just need you to stop making your moisturizer work overtime🤍

and yes, i will be judging your answers.

there is something about an everything shower that makes you feel like you’ve gotten your entire life together🚿

but if you’re doing the whole routine, the order can make a difference.

one of my favorite little changes? do your hair FIRST.

shampoo, condition, mask - whatever you’re doing up there- then rinse everything really well before cleansing your body.

hair products can leave residue behind on your back, shoulders, chest and around the hairline, so washing your skin afterward gives you a chance to remove anything that decided to stick around.

then finish the rest of your routine without turning your shower into an exfoliation olympics.

sometimes the best everything shower is simply a thorough one🤍

save this for your next everything shower🧴

breaking out? wash your pillowcase.

we’ve all heard it.

and yes, regularly washing your pillowcases is a good hygiene habit. oils, sweat, hair products and other buildup can collect on the fabric over time.

but if you’re already keeping them clean and you’re STILL breaking out, please don’t convince yourself that your pillowcase is secretly sabotaging your skin.

acne can be influenced by a lot of different things, and sometimes the answer isn’t as simple as changing your sheets more often.

instead, look at the bigger picture.

has anything changed in your skincare routine?

are you using new hair products?

are you over-exfoliating or irritating your skin?

where are you breaking out and is there a pattern?

and sometimes? acne happens even when you’re doing everything “right.”

clean your pillowcases because it’s a good habit.

just don’t expect your laundry detergent to solve every breakout🤍

new month, new season…but before you completely overhaul your skincare routine, check in with your skin first🍂

ask yourself:

does my skin feel tighter after cleansing lately?

am i noticing any new dry or flaky areas?

has my oil production changed?

are products that normally feel fine suddenly stinging or irritating my skin?

am i breaking out somewhere i normally don’t?

does my moisturizer still leave my skin feeling comfortable?

seasonal changes can absolutely affect it, but that doesn’t mean everyone needs to make the same changes at the same time.

pay attention to what your skin is actually telling you, then adjust from there🤍

quick question: when was the last time your skincare routine made it all the way to your hands?

the backs of our hands get a lot thrown at them - sun exposure, frequent washing, hand sanitizer, dry air and yet they’re one of those areas we tend to completely forget about.

an easy habit to start?

when you have a little product left on your fingertips after your routine, bring it onto the backs of your hands instead of wiping it away.

moisturizer, hydrating products and especially SPF in the daytime.

you don’t necessarily need a whole separate 10-step routine for your hands.

sometimes it’s just about remembering they’re there.

be honest…how long are you actually washing your face?

because if it’s approximately 10 seconds before you rinse and move on, we need to talk.

cleansing isn’t just about putting cleanser on your skin and getting it back off. give yourself time to actually work it across your entire face - around your nose, along your jawline, near your hairline and all those little areas that are easy to rush past.

and no, this doesn’t mean aggressively scrubbing your face for five minutes. gentle and thorough is the goal.

before you decide you need another serum, toner or treatment, take a look at how you’re using the basics you already have.

sometimes a better skincare routine isn’t about adding another product.

sometimes it’s just slowing down🤍

you did your entire skincare routine…

and now it’s rolling off your face in tiny little pieces🙃

let’s talk about skincare pilling.

those little product “crumbs” don’t necessarily mean your skin is dry or that you need to exfoliate. sometimes, your products just aren’t layering nicely together.

a few things that can contribute:

- using more product than you need
- layering several products too quickly
- certain formulas not playing well together
- rubbing each layer in too aggressively
- applying makeup before your skincare has had a chance to settle

try using thinner layers, giving each product a little time to absorb and gently pressing your products into the skin instead of endlessly rubbing.

because your skincare belongs on your face…

not rolled into tiny little balls on your bathroom counter.

let’s build your perfect fall self-care day🍂

you can only pick ONE from each…

🎃 pumpkin patch or bookstore?
📚 good book or cozy movie?
🍪 bake something sweet or order your favorite takeout?
🛁 everything shower or long bubble bath?
🕯️ candles & blankets or windows open & crisp fall air?

okay… what are you choosing?!
