I am a personal fitness trainer, wife, and mother, living in Sonoma County, CA. My ideal client would be female, ages 25-60, with goals to gain strength and learn more about health and wellness. My life outside of personal training is much different than it was a few years ago. I enjoy playing with my son, taking him on hikes, and at the end of the day, I love being at home with both him and my hu
sband. His mom was (and still is) working at Powerfit in Rohnert Park, CA; a personal training facility, personal interval training, and classes. Trainer Lisa Collodi introduced me to Powerfit by bringing me to a PM Bootcamp class. I really loved the atmosphere and I eventually applied for the front desk position. I worked at the front desk for 2 years. During that time I, learned a lot about fitness and how to put exercise plans together to create great programs to build strength, size and lose weight. This is when I began to seriously consider a career in the field. I finally had the courage to purchase the NASM program and studied hard for the test. In November of 2014, I became a Certified Personal Trainer. I made this transition as soon as possible, occasionally still helping out at the front desk. To this day, I am so proud of myself for stepping up, taking charge of my life/goals, and doing something I really wanted to do. What motivated me to pursue the life of health and fitness was the fact that I was never happy with my body; I had always been a thicker girl and I wanted to turn that thickness into solid muscle. Once I gained some knowledge, I was eager to gain more and one day, help others with the same discomfort in themselves that I once had. In May 2015, I registered for the SFG Kettlebell Instructor Level 1 Certification. In November, 3 colleagues and I went to Santa Cruz for the weekend to complete this certification. Unfortunately, I had to skip one of the tests because it was unsafe to do in the midst of my pregnancy. I was only able to obtain the Attendance Certification and not the Instructor Certification. However, 9 weeks after I am cleared by my doctor, I will be able to complete the Instructor Certification. My future plans for fitness is to get back into Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Crossfit, but most of all, get my body back to where it was pre-pregnancy. It’s important and rewarding for me to share my fitness experiences pre and post-baby as well as encourage others who may be struggling with their physical goals.
