There will be a new development happening on Bainbridge Street in the not too distant future. The industrial buildings and garages at 825-827-829-831 Bainbridge (aka the Meg Saligman Studios between 8th and 8th streets) are slated to give way to a condominium development. At this time, we do not know if the development with be "by right" (involving NO variances or exceptions) or whether the project will ask for density or height variances. Either way this will have a significant impact on the neighborhood in terms of additional residences, parking, and the attendant demolition and construction, likely to last a year. As more information becomes available we will advise.
BVNA has scheduled an open meeting for May 3rd. One of the agenda items will be a presentation and Q&A on the recent development and activities at 620-624 S 8th Street (Church Rectory and Parish Building) and at 807 Bainbridge (Episcopal Church of the Crucifixion). Inasmuch as the development was filed as a "by right" project with no variances requested, BVNA Zoning Committee did not have any oversight.
The project on S 8th street will involve the conversion of the building to eighteen (18) apartments.
The Church project on Bainbridge will involve repairs to structural elements of the building. We urge BV neighbors to attend, either in person or via Zoom to learn the scope, duration and progress of these two projects.
