Well… Spindlecraft finally got around to doing a non-spindly thing. For my first foray into more traditional woodworking, I am both happy with it, and proud of it.

Just a little something I finished up today. Honey Ebonite with a Jowo #6 Nib.

Up until a few weeks ago, I had been without a lathe for the better part of a year. I only recently (as of a few weeks ago) got operational again. But after almost a year, I was rusty. Very rusty!

It took me a couple of weeks, and a LOT of failed projects… but not only did I regain my skills… I genuinely feel that I was able to come back stronger.

This pen represents a substantial shift in my skill level.

I’m actually really proud of this one, as it required a lot of new techniques that I had previously been unsuccessful in executing.

The combination of a beautiful piece of wood, patiently working out measurements for new techniques, attention to detail, and painstaking precision results in this piece (approximately 10 hours of work).

Wow - it’s been a while! My lathe has been out of commission for the past few months, so I haven’t really been in the shop much. But - new lathe means new stuff coming much more frequently now!

I’m a bit rusty - so I started with a simple rosewood coffee scoop. It’s good to be back!

Blue bayou. Just finished this beauty up yesterday. Really getting into a groove with these kitless pens now!

Been a while since I’ve done a kit pen - but I like how this olivewood one turned out.

Just finished this bespoke pen up today. I generally like just about everything I make, but I am particularly proud of this one. I cast the blank, turned the brass ring, and ultimately created everything but the nib.

I started this one a while back, and just finished it up today. I tried a couple of new techniques with it, and am quite happy with the results. Patience and a steady hand, always make the end result worthwhile.

When your faith in humanity starts to decline - you fight it the only way you can - through generosity. It starts with each of us. So tonight, rather than staying glued to the news and social media - I decided to unplug and spend some time in the woodshop, making a gift for an old friend. No reason in particular - just for the sake of brightening someones day. Not because they were having a bad day, or were going through a rough time. Simply to maybe give them something to smile about. This is a custom dip pen, with a customized logo end cap and a suggested Zebra Comic G nib. this ones for you, my friend.

Started another kitless fountain pen tonight. Thinking this is my favorite one to date!
