Swimsuit season is knocking on the door.
And I’m all for looking your best. But before you load up on GLP-1s, start a 72-hour fast, or survive on nothing but coffee, energy drinks for a month, take a second and consider the following:

1. You’ll Have the Energy of a Sloth. And the Personality to Match.
You’ll have just enough gas for your workout and not much else.
Work, family, friends and life gets your drained, boring, but super lean ass.

2. Progress Gets Replaced by Fear
The leanest version of you is rarely the strongest or most capable version of you.
At some point you stop training to improve and start training not to lose what you’ve built.
That’s not progress. That’s survival with abs.

3. Your Gut Gets Weird
Bloating.
Constipation.
Food sensitivities through the roof.
Turns out your digestive system isn’t a huge fan of being stressed and underfed all the time.

4. You Start Losing Muscle
Your body likes survival more than aesthetics.
When body fat gets low enough, the muscle you spent years building starts looking like an emergency snack.

5. Your Sleep Sucks
You wake up at 3 a.m. for absolutely no reason.
Except there is a reason. Your body is stressed. And stress doesn’t sleep.

6. You’re not building sustainable habits.
You’re on a plan that can’t be maintained. It’s a short term win that will lead to long term loses.

7. You’re Always Sore or injured.
Recovery requires fuel.
If you’re constantly running on fumes, your body never fully catches up.

The Takeaway
Being lean is great. But you need to know when you’ve reached your goal. There is such a thing as too lean.
Body fat has a purpose.
As Sir Mix-a-Lot once wisely said:
“You can do side bends and sit-ups, but please don’t lose that butt.”

Chasing your leanest self often comes with an overpriced expense.

Instead, chase your healthiest self. Your happiest.
Your most sustainable. Build good habits. Find your maintenance calories. Fuel properly.

Looking good for one season is cool. Feeling good for the next 30 years is a polar bear in a Speedo eating a snow cone in Antarctica cool. 🐻‍❄️🍧❄️

Solid blend of conditioning and strength training

Aim for unbroken sets and keep minimal breaks between movements just keep moving and push the pace.

The goal is to elevate the heart rate, challenge the body, and get a solid sweat in without overcomplicating things.

I love workouts like this because they keep training fun and different instead of doing the same style every session.

Every Minute on the minute for 30:00
Min 1 15-20 Cal Row
Min 2 10-15 Burpees over the rower
Min 3 15-20 Cal Bike
Min 4 10-16 DB Hang Clean and Jerks
Min 5 REST
Easy warm up, whole lotta sweat.

Most days it’s not about greatness. It’s about just showing up. It’s not about being the best. It’s about being the best version of you.

Skipping a session doesn’t make tomorrow easier, it only piles on that “ugh, now I have to do this” guilt.

And guilt is a terrible dancing partner , always off-beat, stepping on your toes.
Consistency though, that one glides with you smoother than MJ doing the moonwalk.

Keeping track of what round you’re on is almost as hard as the workout…

Scary, but awesome truth:

You can always get better.
You are never done.

There is no finish line.
No final version of you.

Just another level.
Another lesson.
Another chance to sharpen the blade.

Most people stop when it gets uncomfortable.
That’s exactly where growth starts.

Keep going.
Get better.
Repeat.

Small things don’t stay small.

They stack.

That random conversation… turns into an opportunity.
One workout… turns into the best shape of your life.
One solid morning… turns into momentum you can’t stop.

That’s how it works.

But flip it…

One bad habit… becomes your norm.
One missed chance… becomes regret.
One negative voice… keeps you up at night replaying everything you should’ve done.

That’s the scary truth
Tiny actions compound in BOTH directions.

The good news?
Life isn’t chaos. There’s patterns. There’s rhythm. There’s structure.

And once you lock into it…
Everything changes.

You can ask ChatGPT for a meal plan.
You can ask it for the perfect training split.
You can even ask it what to do when motivation disappears.

But it can’t look at your real life. Your stress, sleep, cravings, travel, soreness, the chaos you don’t even say out loud and help you make the right call from a human perspective.

If we were robots, sure, this would be easy. But we’re not, and I’ve lived through every high and low this training life throws at you. The seasons when you’re dialed in, unstoppable… and the stretches where life punches you in the mouth and you’re just trying to hold it together.

AI won’t catch the patterns I’ve seen a thousand times:
•Mondays you go all-in → Thursdays you’re smoked
•”Eating clean” all day → snacking like a maniac at night
•Training hard → recovering like trash
•One off day → whole week derailed

And it sure as hell won’t check in when you disappear.

AI gives information.
But progress in training and nutrition isn’t about information it’s about consistency, adjustments, and real, unbiased accountability.

That’s where a coach comes in.
A human being who’s been in the trenches for decades. Someone who’s felt the wins, the plateaus, the burnout, the comebacks… and knows how to help you navigate it without judgment, without perfection pressure, and without the bu****it.

If you’re tired of starting over, tired of white knuckling it solo, and finally ready to get consistent with training + nutrition in a way that actually fits your life.

10 habits I do now at 40… that I should’ve been doing at 20.

1. Walk more. Park farther, take the stairs, run, skip, dance, play, just don’t sit still.
2. Protein for breakfast. Fasting is trendy because it’s easy to stay busy in the morning nighttime is where snack monster lives.
3. Water before coffee. I love coffee, but slam 8oz of water before anything. Your body will thank you.
4. Stretch before and after training. A few minutes now saves you from feeling like a rusty door hinge later.
5. Practice gratitude. If you woke up today, you’ve got something to be thankful for. You find what you look for, look for the good.
6. Plan tomorrow tonight. Workout + food. Wake up already ahead.
7. Keep weekdays “clean-ish.” So weekends you have some more freedom.
8. Eat slower. Chill between bites, wait before seconds. Let your brain catch up to your stomach.
9. Bedtime alarm. Tired boys and girls make reckless pantry decisions.
10. Track ONE thing. Steps, protein, workouts, doesn’t matter. Pick one and dominate it.

If you’re overwhelmed, don’t be a hero.
Pick ONE. Nail it for 7 days. Then add another.

Save this for the days you want to tap out.
You don’t need a fresh start, you just need the next right move. Make it.
