When I went through the process of purchasing my first home, I felt like I was speaking a whole new language! Between our lender, agent & understanding the contracts, I learned a 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙖 of new words. So, I’ll be sprinkling some real estate vocabulary in here - just call me Duolingo 😉⁣

Today’s vocab word is “multiple listing service.”⁣
⁣
A (MLS) is a way to make transaction processes more efficient. This is done by offering cooperation and compensation by listing brokers to other real estate brokers.⁣
⁣
In other words, it’s a system in which brokers can help other brokers by offering compensation, such as commission if they help sell each other’s properties.⁣
⁣
It started in the 1800s and is still going strong with over 800 MLSs, according to the National Association of Realtors.⁣
⁣
But the MLS doesn’t just benefit the brokers, it also benefits 𝙮𝙤𝙪. ⁣
⁣

As I reflect on goals I have set for myself in the past, I recognize that they are almost always based on an achievement, a check list or a life event. ⁣
⁣
And guess what? ⁣
I almost always achieve them. ⁣
⁣
Great right? ⁣
Eh, wrong. ⁣
Here’s why:⁣
⁣
⁣
I tack goals onto check lists, so when I meet or even exceed them, it feels the same as doing the dishes, or driving to the post office. It’s like a task, an expectation. And most of the time, I couldn’t tell you how I got there. ⁣
⁣
⁣
So, I’m making a shift. I’m setting no finite achievements or big checklist-style goals for myself. This year, I plan to go deeper than that. So here they are - the “to infinity & beyond” goals:⁣

Organization⁣
Intentionality⁣
Focus⁣
Consistency ⁣
& Manifestation⁣
⁣
⁣
If I can harness these, I know my achievements will come. I know I will naturally check off boxes that I want to check off. I know I will be more fulfilled when I do because I know I will be able to 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙨. I will finally feel like 𝙄 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢. ⁣
⁣
But let’s make no mistake, I am aware of the hard work I’ve put into everything I’ve achieved in my life so far. I know that I’ve earned them and that I should celebrate them, but I can’t. They often have felt like an out-of-body experience because I was 𝙨𝙤 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 on checking the boxes. ⁣

I share this because I know I cannot be the only one. The only one who lives under their own pressures and timelines and lists and lists and lists. ⁣
⁣
The 𝙝𝙤𝙬 is my focus now. ⁣
⁣
So, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 will you achieve your 2021 goals? ⁣
Can that be your new goal this year?
