We hear the word moisturizing all the time, but did you know different ingredients can play different roles in helping your skin feel moisturized?

Humectants help attract and hold water in the outer layer of the skin. An example is glycerin.

Emollients help soften and smooth the skin by filling in the spaces between skin cells. An example is shea butter.

Occlusives create a protective layer on the skin that helps slow water loss. An example is beeswax.

Now here is where it gets interesting: some ingredients can serve more than one function, which is why understanding what ingredients actually do matters when creating a skincare formula.

Moisturizing isn’t just about putting something on dry skin. It’s about understanding what your skin needs and choosing ingredients with a purpose.

Good skincare starts with understanding your ingredients. 🦋

Time is one of the most precious things we have, yet we all take it for granted.

We waste it, put things off, and sometimes give it to things that don’t deserve it. Not realizing that, besides our health, time may be one of the most valuable things we have.

We can make more money. We can replace things. We can change plans and start over. But we can’t get our time back.

The older I get, the more I realize that how I spend my time matters. Who I spend it with matters. What I give my energy to matters.

So make the call. Take the trip. Spend time with the people you love. Laugh a little longer. Do the things that bring you joy.

Tomorrow isn’t promised, and yesterday is already gone.

Time is precious. Spend it on what matters.

I love getting outside for a good walk! The fresh air, beautiful scenery, sunshine, and a little time to clear my head.

Although the mosquitoes seem to love me, the feeling is definitely not mutual.

That’s why my natural bug repellent has become one of my favorite summer walking companions. A quick spray before I head out, and I’m ready to enjoy the outdoors.
