Meet Kristie Mayer, APRN

Originally from Pikeville, Kentucky, Kristie Mayer has dedicated her career to helping patients achieve better health through compassionate, personalized care. She earned her nursing degree from the University of Pikeville and later advanced her education to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Before joining Bluegrass Precision Wellness, Kristie gained valuable experience working in multiple roles within the hospital setting, caring for patients across a variety of healthcare environments. These experiences helped shape her patient-centered approach and deepened her passion for preventive healthcare.

Kristie was drawn to Lifestyle Medicine because of its focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease rather than simply treating symptoms. She has developed a special interest in Women's Health, helping women better understand the factors influencing their health, energy, and overall well-being throughout every stage of life.

"Lifestyle medicine appealed to me because it focuses on addressing root causes rather than simply managing symptoms. Women's health became a natural extension of that as I was seeing more women being told their symptoms were a normal part of aging, while the underlying drivers of those symptoms were overlooked."

Meet Mike Asher, APRN

Originally from Hazard, Kentucky, Mike Asher has spent more than two decades caring for patients across a wide range of medical settings. He earned both his undergraduate degree and Master of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University before building a distinguished career in Emergency Medicine.

After 20 years on the front lines of healthcare, Mike transitioned into Lifestyle Medicine with a renewed focus on helping patients improve their health before chronic disease develops. His passion lies in empowering individuals through preventive care, personalized wellness strategies, and evidence-based lifestyle interventions that support long-term health and vitality.

Mike brings a unique perspective to patient care, combining years of acute care experience with a proactive approach centered on disease prevention, health optimization, and overall well-being.

Meet Dr. Curtis Koons, founder of Bluegrass Precision Wellness.

Born and raised in Salyersville, Kentucky, Dr. Koons has dedicated his career to helping others live healthier, longer lives. He earned both his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Kentucky before completing residency training in Anesthesiology.

Driven by a passion for prevention and root-cause medicine, Dr. Koons went on to become board certified in both Lifestyle Medicine and Obesity Medicine. His unique approach combines advanced biomarker, genomic, and epigenetic testing with personalized nutrition, lifestyle, and metabolic strategies designed to optimize health and extend healthspan.

Dr. Koons founded Bluegrass Precision Wellness with a simple mission: to bring the cutting-edge, personalized healthcare often found in large concierge clinics to Kentucky—while maintaining the hometown relationships and individualized attention patients deserve.
