The moment when a bride realizes they’re getting married, is probably one of my most favorite parts.

Whether it’s the final touches, a few more pins or the last of the setting spray. There’s a moment in my bridal styles, when I feel an energy shift. They get quiet, it’s calm, peaceful and they’re smiling. When I notice, I usually ask if they just realized that they’re getting married today. The answer is always yes 💒🍾👰🏻‍♀️ and it’s my absolute favorite.

By the end of styling this wig for the next cancer warrior, it felt like my last appointment with Brittany💕🦋
Last year was another year of loss for me, and for so many friends of mine. It feels like every year since 2019 I have lost family and people who really matter to me. No matter how familiar grieving is, it doesn’t always make it easier and it can be so different wherever life is meeting us.

Last fall I did probably one of the hardest appointments of my career. Stying my friend’s wig that so many of you graciously helped me get for her wedding day. I cried through most of it, not realizing how emotional stying the wig would make me feel, because I felt her with me.

A client of 13 years shared with me that her 36 year old daughter was wrapping up her breast cancer treatments brought on by the BRCA gene.
And that loosing her hair was taking a toll on her heart. The whole situation reminded me of Brittany, down to the age and type of cancer. I offered my clients daughter the wig. There were opportunities for others to take it along the years but I knew Brittany’s spirit would guide me to find the person who needed it. 🫂Human connection and compassion is what binds us, keeping us together. Today another strong woman is wearing a wig that holds a story. My prayer is that she won’t need it anymore and will pass it along to another cancer warrior. Hair holds a story and today it’s Brittany’s. I miss my beautiful friend, who we all lost 3 years ago today to cancer. I miss her face, her kindness, her sassy attitude, her tight hugs, her hair lol and most of all her presence.

Might seem silly but be the end of the appointment I snapped a selfie with the wig because it truly felt like our last time together behind the chair and letting her go. This song by I would play on repeat when she passed and it gives me comfort for those I have lost.

Using Alfaparf Milano color :
Baby lights, level 9 lightener w/ 30vol (balayage from previous appointment).
Root, evolution level 8n W/ 10vol
Smudged that base color onto the high light after taking out the foil and before rising( I know you all have done it, let’s not pretend we always mix a smudge🤣).
Toner, color gloss 9n+ 10.04 + 8.6 + 2 pumps of gold pigment + 2 pumps of copper
I always have fun playing with different variations of this toner formula, changing the grams of each one to achieve a different strawberry blonde every time.
And PSA! I love the pigments by they are so fun! Allowing me to have such creative play 🎨
