It is with the heaviest of hearts,I am posting the passing of our dog Kitty. She was my first partner at the shop, and my constant support even into her retirement. She did the big work and she did it well.

On June 5th, 2020, Allegheny County will be in Pandemic Phase Green. The Humble Barber Co. will not be reopening at this time.

As a Barber it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of the public. Currently there is limited access to reliable testing, no treatment, and no cure for Covid-19. Through the use of Personal Protective Equipment, sanitation, disinfection, personal distancing, and one on one appointments the spread can be slowed. However, I still can not ensure the safety of the public, myself, my family, friends, or the people I love under these circumstances. The Green Phase declared by Governor Wolf, is not a designation of safety, but rather a gamble that the Healthcare system will not be overwhelmed by new cases or casualties.

I am making the choice to listen to the guidance and wisdom of science, Doctors, Nurses, and Health Safety Professionals over that of the government and politicians. I will not sacrifice the health and lives of people I serve for the sake of the economy. I believe this would be a disregard to the over 100,000 Americans who have lost their lives and the over 1,000,000 citizens who have contracted Covid-19.

I love what I do. I genuinely care for and miss the people who I am privileged to serve. When I am able to open safely, knowing that the danger of not spreading this virus is a reasonable achievement, I will. Now is not that time.
