Massage gets a lot of credit for being relaxing. And it absolutely is.
But if that's all you think it does, you're only getting half the picture.
When massage is approached with intention and practiced consistently, the benefits go far beyond an hour of feeling good on the table.

Here's what's actually happening beneath the surface:
Your nervous system gets a reset. Chronic stress keeps your nervous system in a low-grade state of activation. Therapeutic massage signals safety to the body helping it shift out of fight-or-flight and into the parasympathetic state where real healing happens.

Had a conversation today with a client after a reiki session- talked about what to do with the information that is received during these sessions and it brought me into an interesting discussion.

We are all flooded by information on how to โ€œhealโ€ and be โ€œyour best selfโ€ - lots of ideas on focusing on the positive. This can be a great tool to have to try and see the growth and joy in each part of our messy lives but it can also lead to chasing this perfectionist standard.
Being a human is raw and real and scary, but beautiful and enriching. Theres nothing wrong with that.

So what can you do after some stuff comes up after a session? Return to your body, to your support system. Remember your goals and try to work to obtain them, but know that your doing this to feel more human, more compassionate- not to be the โ€œmost perfectโ€
