November is Stomach and many other cancer diagnoses Awareness Month, and I’m proud to share my story as a survivor! I’m usually pretty private about personal things, but sharing my story can help someone else.

For those who didn’t know, I was diagnosed in May of 2023 with gastric lymphoma, a form of stomach cancer that hit me, my family, and my friends like a ton of bricks. We were in disbelief. I kept thinking this had to be a dream. Being diagnosed was one of the most challenging moments of my life, filled with uncertainty and fear. Our lives were about to change, but I/we were ready to fight. By the grace of God and early detection, it was caught at stage one. I had 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 18 rounds of radiation. There were many rough, difficult days, mentally and physically, but my faith in God, family, friends, and prayers kept me going. As we celebrate this month of awareness, my cancer-free journey has begun.

To everyone fighting this battle, remember that you’re not alone. Let’s raise awareness, share our stories, and advocate for ourselves. Please, please listen to your body for early detection.
