Changing Courtney’s look today reminded me just how long she’s been sitting in my chair. She’s been my guest for as long as I can remember and over the years she has become so much more than just a guest.

Courtney is genuine, kind, hardworking and one of those people who always trusts the process. As a businesswoman herself she understands the dedication, growth and passion that goes into building something you love and I’ve always appreciated her support. One of the greatest gifts of this career is getting a front row seat to my guests’ lives. Thank you, Courtney for your trust, loyalty and friendship all these years. I’m so grateful to be part of your journey.

Here we are. Another before and after. Another extension transformation. But this post isn’t really about the hair.

Last week for the first time in 16 years behind the chair, I cried. Not happy tears. Tears because someone questioned my knowledge, my skill and my character so deeply that it broke me. After they left, I sat in my salon wondering why I chose a career where sometimes people can make you feel so small. That night I talked to my husband and asked him, “Why do I do this?” He reminded me of moments like this before and after. He reminded me of the guest at the beginning of the week whose confidence was completely transformed. The guest who walked in feeling one way and left feeling beautiful and empowered. He reminded me of all the people who have sat in my chair over the last 16 years and trusted me with something so personal and he was right. Because while one person had the power to make me question myself hundreds of others are the reason I keep showing up. What I wish more people understood is that behind every appointment, every color formula, every extension installation and every before and after photo is a real person. A woman. A wife. A mother. A business owner. Someone who pours her heart into helping others feel confident and beautiful. At one point the guest who hurt me trusted me too. At one point I helped build her confidence as well. Somewhere along the way she forgot there was a person standing behind the chair. So if you’re reading this let this be your reminder that the people serving you, helping you and showing up for you every day are human too.

We’re not just hairstylists. We’re carrying our own struggles, raising our families, building our businesses and doing our very best. To every guest who has trusted me, supported me, encouraged me and reminded me why I chose this career thank you. You will never know how much that means. To this beautiful guest in today’s before and after, thank you for being one of the reasons I remembered exactly why I do what I do 🩷

Behind every appointment, every late night client text, every transformation and every dream I’ve built behind the chair… I am still just a mom trying to balance both passion and presence.

This Mother’s Day I’m honoring all the women doing both with grace. The moms raising families while building businesses. The mom’s answering client messages after bedtime. The moms pouring into everyone around them while still trying to pour into themselves. The moms showing their children what hard work, dedication, ambition and unconditional love looks like in real time.

To every mother behind the chair, I see the sacrifices, the strength, the exhaustion and the quiet moments no one else sees. I hope you know how deeply admired you are. Thank you for the beauty you bring into this industry and into the lives around you every single day.

Meet the newest member of the salon team… Millie! 🐾 🤎

She specializes in emotional support, client greetings and supervising services from a very safe distance. Her credentials include: being extremely cute, excellent cuddle skills, and boosting salon morale.

Also… can we take a second to peep that blonde in this photo? Millie clearly has great taste in hair.

Don’t worry she’s still in training, but so far she’s proven to be very good at stealing hearts and occasionally the spotlight. Next time you’re in the chair you might just have a tiny assistant keeping an eye on your transformation. Welcome to the team Mill! 🐶
