We want to take a moment to give credit where credit is due. 👏

Yesterday, there was a welfare check involving someone who had been left in a vulnerable situation. We are going to leave out names and personal details because the goal here is not to embarrass anyone. It’s to raise awareness and give thanks. 💛

The officers showed up at Joe’s Barber Shop, and from what I understand, they already knew enough about her situation to recognize that something was not right. They got her out of the situation she was in at the time before it had a chance to escalate into something worse. 🙏

After speaking with her afterward, she said she was scared, confused, and not usually someone who has had positive interactions with police. In this case, Plattsburgh City Police treated her with kindness, patience, and respect.

That matters. 💙

Sometimes people are quick to criticize when police are called, and yes, there are absolutely times when neighbors should simply check on each other first. There are also moments where someone truly may not be okay, and a welfare check can make a difference.

In this situation, it sounds like City PD showing up helped get someone out of a bad spot and safely back where she needed to be. That deserves recognition. 👏

So thank you to the officers who responded with compassion instead of judgment. That kind of interaction is exactly what builds trust in the community. 🚔💙

And to everyone else, let this be a reminder: look out for each other. Ask if someone is okay. Make the call if you truly believe someone is in danger. But above all, lead with humanity.

Yesterday could have gone very differently. Thankfully, it didn’t. 💛

Just a heads up - we’ll be shutting down this page and starting fresh with a new one ASAP.

This page has had ongoing issues that Facebook refuses to properly address, so at this point, the best move is to wipe the slate clean and rebuild.

Joe's Barber Shop is closed today in observance of Memorial Day.

Today is about remembering and honoring the brave men and women who gave everything for this country. We’re grateful for their sacrifice, and we’re proud to be part of a community that comes together to remember. ❤️🤍💙

We’ll also be participating in the Memorial Day Parade today at 12:00 PM, starting at the West Side Ballroom, heading down NY Road, and finishing at the U.S. Oval.

Come out, bring the kids, wave us down, and help make this a great community turnout. 🇺🇸💈
