Last night was the final day of LashCon.

If you know me, you already know I'm a pretty spiritual person. I believe in meaning and purpose, and whether I'm feeling down or happy, I sometimes find little signs from the universe that feel like they were meant only for me.

Yesterday I tucked my eye drops into one of the pockets, and when I reached for them later, I felt something else in there. I pulled out a small piece of paper and figured someone had left it by accident.
I opened it, and it said: "The true measure of a person's greatness is not in their power or wealth, but in their capacity for kindness and compassion."

I almost had tears in my eyes. I connected with that quote so deeply, because it's the kind of person I want to be. Not the one with the most power or the biggest wealth, but the one who leads with kindness. I don't always get it right, but it's what I keep coming back to.

thelashconference this year reminded me of that. Of my values and my purpose in this life. Of how I want to show up wherever I am. And it reminded me that being vulnerable and showing up as your true self is the most courageous thing a person can do.

I don't believe that note ended up in my pocket by accident. Finding it felt like a quiet confirmation that I'm on the right path, in the right place, at the right time. To whoever thought of it, wrote it, and placed it in that jacket: thank you. I know you had a purpose too.

I got sick at thelashconference two years in a row before I figured out how to actually do a conference. 😅
My first year, I wanted to soak up EVERYTHING. Every class, every room, every minute. I skipped lunch multiple times and ran on adrenaline, and tried to learn it all.

Spoiler: it was physically impossible. I left feeling like I'd been handed a firehose of knowledge and needed months just to process it. And yes, I went home with a cold. 🤧

Year two, I changed ONE thing: I told myself I don't have to be in every room. I picked only the classes that mattered to me that year and actually absorbed them.

Because here's the thing, LashCon happens every year! You don't have to learn everything in one weekend. You just have to learn what YOU need right now.

And those moments I almost skipped? The lunches, the hallway chats in between classes? That's where the real magic happened. The friendships. The connections. Don't run past them like I did.
