Maila Wheeler Hair
I help moms get a little luxury 'me time' while achieving soft, dimensional grey coverage.
You don’t need to earn self care by being completely depleted first.
You don’t have to wait until you’re snapping at everyone, crying in the car, living off iced coffee, or staring at your grown-out color in the mirror thinking, “When did I become the last person on my own list?”
Self-care doesn’t have to be dramatic.
It doesn’t have to be a whole weekend away.
It doesn’t have to mean abandoning your family, your responsibilities, or the people who need you.
Sometimes self-care is simply making the appointment.
Getting your grays blended.
Refreshing the color that makes you feel like yourself.
Trimming the ends that have been begging for help.
Sitting in a quiet chair with a hot coffee and no one asking you for a snack.
That is NOT selfish my friend.
It’s maintenance.
It’s care.
It’s remembering that you are a person too, not *just* the keeper of everyone else’s needs.
You are allowed to want hair that feels beautiful and easy.
You are allowed to take a few hours for yourself.
And my goal is to make sure you leave the salon feeling lighter than when you walked in.
No guilt required, sister friend.
Gray coverage, gray blending, and low-maintenance color in downtown Pleasanton, CA.

You know that moment when your kid is crawling on top of you, trying to somehow meld their body with yours, the tv is blaring, you've been up since 4:37 am and you want to pull your hair out?
I've been there sister friend, believe me. That level of overstimulation is rough.. especially when it's happening day after day and you can't seem to catch your breath between the soccer games, meetings and figuring out when you're actually going to have time to finally get that ONE task done that's been on your to do list for weeks (really months but who's counting?!)
The problem is that we've been sold this idea that just going shopping, getting an iced coffee or painting our toenails will actually reverse the feeling of impending doom that's been looming over our shoulder since March... of 2016
What you truly need is something that works FOR YOU. Something that actually makes you feel like you cleared some pent up energy and emotions. And that looks different for everyone.
So here's your invitation to get curious about YOU. What makes you feel like you can actually breathe again?
Save this post for the next time you start feeling that overwhelm creeping in 💙

Check out this beautiful extensions transformation. In order to get her extensions that were installed by a previous stylist to have a seamless blend, we did a full highlight, lowlight on the extensions, deep conditioning treatment and quick move up. 😍

Before and after on this amazing mama looking for something soft, blendy and easy to maintain! If you're just starting to see some grays coming in and want to camouflage them without going straight to permanent color and hair grow out lines, opt for a grey blending highlight! 😉
Maybe it’s dissociating in the car before you drive home, numbing out with chips in front of the TV, or laying awake second-guessing your toner formula all night.
You deserve your downtime, babe. You were just never taught how to transition out of “stylist mode”.
If this doesn’t come naturally to you, don’t worry…it didn’t click right away for me, either. Now, I’m making it my personal mission to help other stylists avoid the burnout so common in our industry.
Follow along if you’re ready to reclaim your energy.
Another espresso isn’t gunna fix the bone-deep exhaustion, sis, sorry.
Breathe. Move. Stretch. Meditate. Go outside and feel the sun on your face. I know they all sound like cliches, but it’s because they WORK.
Breath work feels like such a life hack because it’s so low-effort, but SO high-reward. You can do it no matter how exhausted you feel, because you have to breathe anyway, right?
If you want to try a guided breath work session with me, tap the link in my bio. You won’t believe how much better you’re going to feel. 🩵
