When everyone else is told to stay home safely with their families, first responders are walking out the door to protect ours.

As a firefighter wife, Hurricane Lowell has shown me once again what it means to quietly hold down the home front. While my husband is out serving our community, I’m home caring for our daughters, managing the power outage, protecting our home, making decisions alone, reassuring everyone, and keeping our family moving—all while worrying about him and not knowing when he’ll be able to come home.

First-responder wives serve in the background. We may not wear the uniform or stand on the front lines, but we carry the weight at home so our partners can focus on helping others. It’s a quiet sacrifice that is rarely seen, but it matters.

To every wife and family holding everything together behind the scenes: I see you. Your strength makes their service possible. 🤍

Hurricane Lowell has devastated parts of our beautiful island, but it has also reminded us who we are. Kaua‘i takes care of Kaua‘i—from the first responders running toward the danger, to the families supporting them at home, to the neighbors sharing generators, food, supplies, and aloha.

We are resilient. We are strong. And we will rebuild together. 🌺🙏🏽

Beautiful Waimea Big Island Hawai’i you’re truly magic it was a wet and rainy day it’s been cold and windy Aaliyah cowgirl’d hard and sat in the wet wind and rain for an hour before her run. We got some beautiful views when we went to check on sweet AZ caught a glimpse of an owl and an epic sunset followed by couch snuggles.
