“I can’t ever find my foundation match”- almost every single client.

And my response usually is:

Because there’s rarely ever ONE perfect shade for anyone. Skin is complex and usually has a variety of shades and even undertones in the same client. So mixing is necessary 90% of the time.

That’s why hiring a professional and not relying on yourself or your friend who does great on her own makeup is key for your special event. A seasoned makeup artist would have seen hundreds of faces, undertones, textures, hyperpigmentation, sensitivity, acne, redness etc throughout their career. They should be experienced enough to know how to target and correct your skin and to give it the attention it needs. My clients are always so impressed when they see me in my chemist 👩‍🔬 mode, mixing up so many shades adjusting my formula as needed to correct unnecessary tones.

The chemistry of your own skin is also something to factor in when deciding which products will work best. So again, hiring a professional who has had the necessary schooling and training will be a game changer.

Creating My makeup kit is probably one of my biggest achievements.

It’s the most fun part about being a makeup artist. I genuinely love shopping and even though I hate spending, I do think my favorite part is when I’m buying new products. I love testing new things on the market or even just repurchasing the oldies but goodies.

As I’ve grown as an artist, so has my kit and I love that has soooo many options for bags. I’ve had 3 kits to date and all have been from Relavel. And the best part about their bags is the quality. I have never had to replace a bag because it was damaged. I’ve only ever had to replace them as I outgrew them (quite literally). Once I started struggling to close the zips because my kit is just jam packed, I know it’s time for an upgrade. And I love each bag so much more than the last. This bag is by far my favorite right now and it has soooo much space. I literally couldn’t fit anything in my other bag and had to be carrying so many other bags along to help transport my things but once I bought this, not only was I able to combine some of my bags into this one kit, but I had room TO BUY SOME MORE!!!!! So ofc I did 🤪

I’m at a comfortable place with my kit right now but things are always changing in an artists kit so you never know!!

GLAM WAVE GUIDE:

I realize a lot of people seem to think of glam waves as “simple curls”. So I’m here to clear the air, here are some things you should know before opting for this style;

1. It is anything BUT simple. Glam waves requires a lot of attention to detail and effort.

2. It usually takes anywhere from 1.5-2 hours to achieve a good glam wave.

3. You’ll most likely need to hire a stylist to stay for touch up if you want them to remain perfect all night.

4. You’ll need extensions. Even if your hair is long, you want achieve the glam waves you see in pictures online without a good set of extensions.

5. You gotta let your stylist know in advance. Because it takes more time than the average style, it usually puts the stylist in a pickle when you pull this out as your inspiration with no notice because the timeline has already been made and it will likely push everyone else behind. Especially if you’re not the bride.

We all love a good classic Glamour wave moment, but it’s definitely something you gotta plan ahead for and talk with your stylist.
